In this movie, the nut shop is called "Nibbler's Nuts". In The Nut Job (2014) the shop was called "Maury's Nuts". It's possible that the last name of Lana, King's girlfriend, is Nibbler.
The poster of the gang in the acorn is an homage to the poster of Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975).
Mr. Feng, voiced by Jackie Chan, is shown to have a one-inch punch attack. Coincidentally, the one-inch punch is commonly attributed to Bruce Lee, for whom Chan had been a stuntman on two of his movies (Fist of Fury (1972) and Enter the Dragon (1973) specifically).
In The Nut Job (2014), Surly and Andie shared a platonic relationship as seen with the two sharing a hug in the end of The Nut Job (2014), but in this movie, Surly and Andie share a quick kiss and even hold hands (or paws) around the end.
This was Will Arnett's second animated movie in 2017. He was also in The Lego Batman Movie (2017).
"Mr. Feng: [punches someone] DON'T... Call Me CUTE!"
"Surly: You had one job! Mole: What was that again? Surly: Shut off the boiler so it doesn't explode!"
