TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess previously acted together as the same characters in 'Love Never Dies' another show written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and the sequel to 'The Phantom of the Opera'.

Colm Wilkinson, (one of four Phantoms performing encore) was in fact the first ever Phantom, who originated this role. It happened in 1985 at Sydmonton Festival - typical place of Andrew's Webber Lloyd previews of his musicals. Wilkinson might had been first Phantom on stage, but later that year, he had chosen to be first Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, another role played by Ramin Karimloo.

Although the Phantom has no name in the musical, he's called Erik in Gaston Leroux's original novel.

Tickets for the three performances sold out within five hours of going on sale. In order to enable more people to see the production, the final performance was relayed live to cinemas around the world via Fathom Events.

Contrary to popular belief, the chandelier used wasn't the same one as the one in The Phantom of the Opera (2004). Instead, it was built exclusively for the concert and named Maria, after Maria Björnson, the original production designer who had died several years before. On the DVD & Blu-Ray, the making of feature shows 'Maria' engraved on the bottom of the chandelier.

Popular Dialogues

"Raoul: [singing] I love her! Does that mean nothing? I love her. Show some compassion! The Phantom: The world showed no compassion to me!"

"Auctioneer: Lot 666, then. A chandelier in pieces. Some of you may recall the strange affair of the Phantom of the Opera, a mystery never fully explained. We are told, ladies and gentlemen, that this is the very chandelier that figures in that famous disaster. Our workshops have restored it and fitted parts of it with wiring for the new electric light, so that we may get a hint of how it may look when re-assembled. Perhaps we may even frighten away the ghost of so many years ago with a little... illumination. Gentlemen!"
