The original title of The Ritual (2009) was The Unholy, until Anthony Spadaccini realized how many films already had the same title.
Shooting took 16 months.
The events depicted in The Ritual (2009) take place between December 2006 and August 2007 (except for the flashbacks featuring Grey "The Sniffer" Mortimer, which take place in July 2006).
Anthony Spadaccini's opted to release his director's cut of The Ritual (2009) to theaters and film festivals. He has stated that this version is the only one that exists and is his definitive version of the film.
The character of Jared was originally supposed to be Wayne's son Todd from Head Case (2007). When Bruce DeSantis became unavailable, the role was re-written and re-cast with Joey Garrison playing the part.
