TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Gloria Grahame was assigned the part of Carol, but she refused and was put on suspension by the studio.

The weapon that 'Red' Kluger (Charles McGraw) uses in the back of the moving van (and on the poster) is a 1902 or 1903 Luger Carbine without the shoulder stock. After he shoots the Highway Patrolman it is never seen again. This is a highly collectible and expensive gun. Perhaps less so in 1949 but it is still a strange weapon for a hood to choose or even have access to.

The police telecast is viewed on a 1948 RCA Victor 10 inch (screen measured diagonally) table model television receiver.

Kluger's escape car is a 1941 Ford 4-door sedan.

Popular Dialogues

"Arnold 'Red' Kluger: Give me your watch! [Smashes it] Arnold 'Red' Kluger: Now you don't have to worry about the time!"

"Ann Williams: Did Murph order you back to work? Detective Ray Williams: It's my job. Ann Williams: Job? To you it's more like a game. You like the excitement, the danger. Detective Ray Williams: You married a cop, not a filing clerk!"
