When Paula tells Chris that "Every morning you open up the paper, there's another body in a weed-covered lot," she is referring to the infamous Black Dahlia case that had horrified Los Angeles earlier that year.
The sculpture of Ann Sheridan was done by Pasquale Manuelli. He was employed in the art department at Warner Brothers at the time of this film. He also worked at 20th Century-Fox.
The $10,000 which Barrow wants to charge for the bust of Chris Hunter would equate to over $130,000 in November 2022 based on inflation.
The film offers rare in-action footage of the legendary "Angels Flight", a landmark funicular railway in the Bunker Hill district of downtown Los Angeles. It has two cars, Olivet and Sinai, running in opposite directions on a shared cable, on the 298 ft. long inclined railway. The scene appears close to the half-hour mark of the film, when the character of Mrs. Tanner is introduced. This was the second movie in which Lew Ayres starred in which the Angel's Flight was featured in a scene; the first was The Impatient Maiden (1932). And 90 years later, the refurbished, storied landmark still takes riders up to and down from a modern Bunker Hill.
Both Zachary Scott and Ann Sheridan were born in Texas on February 21; he in Austin in 1914 and she in Denton in 1915. Both passed away due to cancer at age 51.
"Paula: [to Chris] Isn't that Joan stupid? Poor dear, she's just not smart enough to be an idiot. Don't bother to show me out. I know the way. I always look for the exits in case of a raid."
"Joan: Oh, I could bite my tongue in half! Paula: You'd have plenty left."
