Dhanush has collaborated once again with director Mithran Jawahar after a period of 12 years. They previously worked together on Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008), Kutty (2010), and Uthama Puthiran (2010). However, this is their first original film together. All of their previous films together were remakes.
This film marks the reunion of Dhanush and music composer Anirudh Ravichander after 6 years since their last film together, Thanga Magan (2015). The combo is fondly known as "DnA" in the media.
