The majority of the time, when a couple elopes, it starts a chain reaction of emotional drama that involves many family members and difficult days, perhaps months, or even years for the pair. The drama and tension would increase dramatically if the couple belonged to a different caste or religion. Even more severe consequences could result from it. However, in Achyuth Vinayak's first film Thrishanku, two elopements from the same family occur simultaneously, starting a fairly entertaining ride that also involves two uncles. The couples may first appear to be the focus of the film, but as the plot develops, Sethu's uncles take centre stage and provide much of the laughter. These two characters, who undoubtedly drew inspiration from a number of the domineering uncles we encounter in real life, may be understood given the thinking process that went into their creation. The second uncle, Suresh Krishna, is a little more logical and open-minded but still traditional, in contrast to the superstitious uncle, Nandhu, who exudes caste pride and belongs to an upper caste organisation. For a nephew who has a lot to hide, travelling with the two may be a very intimidating proposition.
