The movie is based on the life of Director/Screenwriter Paul Dalio.
Director/Screenwriter Paul Dalio has the small role of Paul, the psychiatric hospital patient immediately in front of Marco and Carla in the medication line.
Katie Holmes remarked that her favorite part of the shoot of the movie were the sences where she and co-star Luke Kriby ran through the public fou tain-she enjoyed getting wet and walking through the water in bare feet.
"Marco: Van Gogh. Top member of the Bipolar Club. You see this? Nurse Amy: Yes, it's beautiful! Marco: You know why? Nurse Amy: Why? Marco: Because it's the painting of the sky he saw from his sanitarium window when he was manic. Nurse Amy: Really? Marco: Yeah. You don't believe me, go look it up. Nurse Amy: I believe you. Marco: Well, when you go out tonight, and you look at the sky and you see how dull it is, think about if you would've medicated Van Gogh!"
"Carla: I'm just trying to figure out who I am, you know, because I don't feel like myself anymore. Even when I go off the medication, I don't feel like myself."
