TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The end scene (people walking with umbrellas between parked cars) was shot on the parking lot of the then still functioning Amsterdam Ford factory.

Final feature film directed by Jacques Tati.

In addition to playing Mr. Hulot, Jacques Tati plays a drunk driver in the Customs Office, and a policeman directing traffic as the multi-car accident is about to happen.

At the car-show in Amsterdam, Hulot's company Altra has a spot which is captured by Volvo and their new series Volvo 140 sedan and Volvo 145 station-wagon.

The physical similarity and shared mannerisms of the two motorcycle police who stop the truck may be a reference to the two detectives (Dupond and Dupont, aka Thomson and Thompson in English versions) from the 'The Adventures of Tintin', the comics series by Hergé, the Belgian cartoonist.

Popular Dialogues

"Radio Announcer: The Cyclone 70. A new raincoat... especially made for the sun."

"Maria: Where are you going, Mr. Hulot?"
