As silly as it looks, the 2 inch bore giant shot gun was a real thing. It was used to shoot entire flocks of ducks at once. You would mount the gun on a flat bottomed boat (a punt) aim at the side of the lake where a flock was feeding and fire.
Michael Gross was the only person to appear in all six "Tremors" movies. In Tremors (1990), Tremors II: Aftershocks (1996), Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001),Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell (2018) and Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015), he played Burt Gummer. In Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004), he played Hiram Gummer, an ancestor of Burt Gummer. He also played Burt Gummer in the TV show Tremors (2003).
The film specifically takes place in 1889 for a reason: it is to mirror the original Tremors by taking place exactly 100 years before it. Contrary to popular belief, the original Tremors takes place in 1989 and not 1990, the year it was released. The movie was filmed in 1989 and was also set to be released that year before being pushed back to early 1990.
The idea of a character running up a telephone pole has been written in and written out several times, and finally you get to see Juan pull the stunt off in this Tremors film.
The Remington Mark III single-shot 10-gauge pistol was the only gun used in the film that was not historically accurate. Being manufactured from 1915-1918 according to Stampede Entertainment, "S.S. Wilson and Michael Gross loved it so much they decided to use it anyway" the handgun can be seen when Hiram gives it to Lu Wan to use in the final battle. However, Hiram calls it a "derringer". It is used by Lu Wan to blow the head off a tentacle of the Graboid that attacks her on the wagon.
"Hiram Gummer: We will make Rejection our last bastion, our last line of defense. Juan Padilla: Our Alamo. Hiram Gummer: Juan, we were the losers at the Alamo. Juan Padilla: Speak for yourself, Gringo."
"Black Hand Kelly: [to Hiram] I'll tell ya one thing, I ain't got your book-learnin', but I do know this: being full-growed don't make ya a man."
