During filming, Maximilien Poullein insisted on meeting Jane Badler even though they shared no scene together. Indeed, as a kid, Poullein was so afraid of Badler's role in V (1984) he did not even want to wear green because that was the skin color of the "lizards from outer space" in the TV series.
Handguns in the Neo-Paris part of the movie were 3D-modeled on the basis of original designs inspired by various representations of typical cyberpunk weapons. As far as the Olmetta Worlds segment is concerned, the rifles and machine gun props in it essentially have a Nerf gun basis customized with original 3D-printed elements and actual gun parts.
In a public Facebook post written on June 29th 2016 (after FilmQuest 2016, where "Virtual Revolution" got three awards and seven nominations), indie director/actor Ryan LaPlante wrote : " "Virtual Revolution" is, quite possibly, the most impressive piece of independent cinema put out in the last ten years. It's a sci-fi epic that manages to tackle high-fantasy, sci-fi action, and a blade-runner-esque visual aesthetic that it manages to make all its own. I told [Guy-Roger Duvert] after I saw it, the film manages the holy trinity of science fiction: the story has personal stakes, encompasses a world-altering conflict AND raises a key philosophical question (that's pertinent to today) while debating all sides. Guy is the kind of guy who should ALREADY be helming major franchises, so I can't wait to see what he does with one when it falls into his (very well-deserving and prepared) lap."
A necromancer is a person who uses witchcraft or sorcery, especially to reanimate dead people or to foretell the future by communicating with them.
Pro bono, short for pro bono publico, is a Latin term meaning "for the public good." Although the term is used in different contexts to mean "the offering of free services".
"Camylle: We're just gonna do what we've always wanted. Free the Connected. Nash: This freedom you're offering. Is that what they really want? Camylle: Everyone wants freedom. Nash: Are you sure?"
"Nash: [Voice over] The year is 2047. A century of technological revolution. The revolution did happen, just not really the way people thought it would. People were expecting robots, flying cars, more spatial exploration. Well, all of that did happen. But none of it was the revolution. The revolution wasn't our better grasp and control on our reality. It was our escape from it. It all started as just games, virtual worlds called verses, in which players could play avatars in different kinds of sets. From medieval to science fiction to Western. You name it. These verses became more and more realistic. Until the moment it became difficult to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. When there was no reason to stay in the real world anymore. Society has changed. 75% of the population, known as the Connected, don't give a damn about reality anymore, and now spend all of their time online, leaving the real world to a small minority. The revolution did happen. Just not the way people thought it would."
