This documentary marks the first time any footage from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) has been remastered in high definition. The filmmakers worked with CBS Digital to remaster thirty minutes of the original film negatives, and also reproduced a portion of the main battle sequence from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Sacrifice of Angels (1997). The filmmakers have stated a goal of this project is to convince CBS to remaster Deep Space Nine in high definition.
This retrospective documentary was released on DVD and Blu-ray from Shout! Factory on August 6, 2019.

As a result, this documentary and Star Trek: The Next Generation: Birthright, Part I (1993) are the only official releases to show the interior and exterior of Deep Space Nine in high definition.
