Domhnall Gleeson never actually met his alter ego Bob Geldof prior to, or during this production shoot. In preparation for his portrayal of Geldof, Gleeson dyed his hair black and spent several days holed up in a Dublin flat surrounded by posters, photographs and various items of paraphernalia connected to the former rocker. Gleeson also sourced Geldof's 1986 autobiography 'Is That It?' over the course of the production.
Bob mentions Beatle John Lennon during a conversation with rock impresario Harvey Goldsmith played by Ian Hart; Hart played Lennon in The Beatles biopic Backbeat (1994).
