Roblox has unveiled a sweeping set of platform updates at its 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference. As per the brand, it covers new ways for players to access games and expanded creation tools powered by AI. It features a significant overhaul of how creators earn and manage money on the platform. The announcements come as the company marks 20 years of platform development.
Play: reaching players wherever they are
The most significant play-side announcement is Roblox Everywhere. It’s a feature that will supposedly allow creators to publish their games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles, with Roblox powering the underlying technology and services. In effect, a Roblox game could sit on an app store as an independent title while still running on Roblox’s infrastructure. For creators, it is a distribution expansion without the technical overhead of building and maintaining a standalone game engine.
Complementing this is in-browser play, arriving by the end of 2026. Brand says that players will be able to join a Roblox game directly in Chrome from a game’s Experience Details Page. With no app download or install required. A shared link anywhere on the web becomes an immediate path from discovery to play. It removes one of the more persistent friction points in converting casual discovery into active players.
Offline play is also coming. It will supposedly allow creators to combine online and offline modes within a single game. This opens the door to single-player campaigns and sessions that do not require a network connection. It’s a meaningful expansion for players in areas with inconsistent connectivity.
On the 2D and asynchronous front, Roblox is expanding its engine to support 2D games through a new orthographic camera, animated image containers, and direct sprite-sheet import.
A persistent Friends chat tab now follows players across games. It allows friends to coordinate and move into new experiences together without losing their conversation. Voice typing is also live, letting players talk rather than type during gameplay.
Build: AI creation tools and engine expansion
Build, the in-app creation tab that allows anyone to create and publish a game through prompting rather than traditional development, is expanding to public alpha in Serbia and Singapore following its New Zealand launch earlier this year. The early data is that notable creators have published approximately 9,000 games through Build since the New Zealand alpha, and 71% of users who created a game with Build had never previously used Roblox Studio. The tool is genuinely lowering the barrier to game creation, not just offering an alternative path for existing developers.
New tools arriving in Build include an asset library, desktop access, and iterative control. Creators can already review analytics and add monetisation from Build, with the ability to launch ads from their phones coming soon.
Scene Generator is the more ambitious AI creation tool, arriving later this year. Creators supply a text prompt and a reference image, and Scene Generator returns a fully functional scene layout that can then be refined in Studio. It brings prompt-to-scene functionality to both Build and Studio, with greater control available in the full Studio environment.
Grow: Roblox Wallet and creator monetisation
Since launching its DevEx programme in 2013, creators have earned more than $5 billion on Roblox. In the past 12 months alone, that figure reached approximately $1.7 billion. The next evolution of creator earnings is Roblox Wallet, a financial account that lets creators earn directly in real currency, receive automatic daily payouts, move funds to other Roblox accounts or external accounts, and access richer earnings analytics in Creator Hub.
Roblox Wallet is a meaningful structural shift. The current DevEx model converts Robux to real currency through a redemption process with minimum thresholds and processing delays. Daily payouts in real currency remove that friction and position Roblox as a platform where creators can run actual businesses rather than manage a virtual currency conversion. Wallet rolls out later this year to eligible US-based independent creators aged 18 and older, with global expansion planned for next year.
Connected to Wallet is the Roblox Card, a physical payment card that lets creators spend their available Roblox balance anywhere the card is accepted. It begins rolling out next year.
On discovery, the Moments tab, where players watch gameplay videos and tap to play, is now fully available in the US. Upcoming additions include game videos from Experience Detail Pages appearing in Moments, the ability to tap any avatar in a Moments video to purchase the items shown, and Build games becoming playable directly within the tab.
Roblox’s discovery ranking system has also been updated to optimise differently for younger and older player segments.

Taken together, the RDC announcements represent the most significant platform expansion Roblox has undertaken in several years. Roblox Everywhere and in-browser play directly address the distribution bottleneck that has historically kept Roblox games within the Roblox app. Build and Scene Generator lower the barrier to creation further than any previous tool. And Roblox Wallet removes the financial friction that has made it difficult for smaller creators to treat Roblox as a primary income source rather than a side project.
