Go for it!!

I have searched a lot to get a laptop that is decent enough to high end games like battlefield 4,AC 4 etc.. and considered Y510p to be the best deal meanwhile i searched if i could get a better deal.. and trust me guys this is the best ''Gaming'' laptop you can get for the price money.. i personally don't wanna spend too much on gadgets because the pace at which the technology is going is devastating.. Now Coming to gaming part i have tested Assasin's creed 2 for straight 3 hours and the fps were between 50 to 60 on ultra settings.. Mafia 2 on high anti aliasing off 60 to 70 fps Far cry 3 on high settings 35 to 50 fps Sleeping dogs on normal settings anti aliasing low 45 to 50 fps I will update it as soon as i get hands on more games... Gaming laptop for 42000 are you kidding me? i mean Y510p has a gt 755m which is a class 2 graphics card and this has gt 740m which is also a class 2 graphic card for 32,000 less Y510p owners will say we have a quad core processor.... Seriously?? only battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 and couple of more games use more than two cores so the matter is settled there and if you think you are being future proof let me tell you lenovo has announced Y50 which has GTX 860m about twice the power of GT 755m which will be for about the same price as Y510p so i feel sorry for you guys.. Pros : Gaming Yaeeeee! Rs. 42000 for i5 and 2GB GT 740m battery life is almost 5 hours while downloading on wifi with watching a HD movie.. Cons : DVD Writer not working on my laptop hopefully i'll get it fixed! It's a pain in the ass if you install windows 7 on this machine due to lack of hp drivers support!! Only three usb ports! Final verdict : Go for it guys and do get a good cooling pad with it aswell!!

EPIC MOVE BY HP!!!!!!!!!!!!

HP has really hit the ground running with this monster! Gt 740M is a mid-high end graphic card which can play even demanding games like Crysis 3 or CoD:Ghosts at at very least medium settings which will give you 35+ fps. Some of you may feel the processor may not be adequate, but reviews & gameplays suggest that the i5 4200U is good for adequate gaming and superb for day-to-day activities. RAM slots could have been increased though for future upgrades, a little bit disappointed with that drawback. But if you get GT 740M for such an incredible price, then no more doubts, GAMERS GO FOR IT!!!!!!!! (Note : I have not bought this laptop so techinically this is not a review. I have seen a similar laptop with i5 3337U and GT 740M and that was a beast. No reason why this shouldn't be ;-) .......

Best in i5 series in the market

Softwares Run : Java Netbeans(JDK), Photoshop CS6, Matlab, C++ Games Tested: Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, Thief, Far Cry 3, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Hitman Absolution, Need For Speed Rivals. The processor has no lag issues. I have tested copying 25GB files, playing songs on Windows Media Player, Google Chrome(5 tabs opened), Torrent(at download), Photoshop minimized and Tomb Raider playing at he same time with no lag( I use Windows 7 Ultimate). The graphics card has been such a sweetheart. Obviously better than ATI graphics and the NVIDIA 740m is the best buy at the moment. The sound is good and webcam resolution is also commendable. The games and softwares I have mentioned are mostly new and required good graphics card and I have fond no issues at all. I play them at highest settings. Little bit of machine heating can be forgiven, but poses no problem at all. Bought it at a local store in Kolkata with great service from HP so far and also extended my on-site warranty for 3 years. My verdict(on a scale of 1 to 10) : Gaming graphics : 8.5 Processor/RAM/HDD : 8 Display : 9 Battery : 8 Overall :8.5 Go for i,t blindfolded!

Best Buy for the price

The product is a great but for the price. The software although great improvement in Linux out of the box, will be old and need upgrades if you are a power user and know Linux. Pros: 1. Amazing specs 2. Killer Price 3. Working Ubuntu with tested hardware. Best Linux out of the box experience 4. Graphics card performs 5. Screen good enough for all purposes 6. HDMI out works great 7. USB file transfer is mind blowing. Around ~100MegaBytes/sec from one partition to another and ~70 to external HDD. 8. Good dual microphone inbuilt with noise canceling to do video chat. Location near camera allows typing while audio/video calls without other party hearing the typing noise. 9. Ultra thin design makes it slid in anywhere. Cons: 1. Keyboard, screen and top are dust magnets. 2. Typing on the keyboard takes getting used to. 3. Will need expert tinkering to utilize the graphics card completely. 4. The internal HDD is divided into a single partition. 5. Constant updates to software, although free, become a nuisance. 6. Becomes terribly hot if gaming Recommendation: Buy it if you know your way around Ubuntu. Buy, format the HDD and install latest Ubuntu (comes with 12.04, latest is 14.04). Divide HDD into two partitions.

Standard Gaming laptop

I'm a techie and a gamer person and hence I compare system similarly. System overall is good in performance and the design too. If you see it from side angle it would appear like Macbook. Its keyboard is also perfect for typing. I had read about the reviews before purchasing but was a little disappointed. As per market standard its best in the price for a gaming laptop but it’s still not the device a gamer would want under budget. If you are a gamer then trust me this is not the machine for you. I had expected it to at least play all 2013 games with Full settings if not Ultra settings. One such example of game is BattleField 4, you can play this game with full performance but with low settings. The game would hang or there would be lag if you play with High or Ultra Settings. Games like Tombraider 2013 is very very slow under Low settings, the FPS it gives with low setting is 10 which is very very slow while playing. There's huge lag while playing. However games like Battlefield 3 and all NFS series plays like charm under High settings. I feel 4gb Ram for this machine is a less, should have been 6gb. I would advise people to upgrade it. One last problem I found was with the USB ports. There are 2 USB ports in left side; the port is a little lose for high-speed device such as iPhone cable or portable hard drive. You have to connect cable at particular angle to detect, trust me it’s very annoying as even a slight movement causes it to disconnect. The pendrive works fine which are USB 2.0 ports. I had shown this issue to HP and as per them HP ports are designed like that and there is no problem, their ports are as per HP standards which are different than others. I didn’t believe that but they also did not agree to change the board. Support of HP is better than Dell for sure, they are quick in response. If you are looking for day to day purpose and little gaming then this right machine.
