Verdict
Despite being available at a low price, the HP 2000-2201TU surprises you with many high end features, the most important of which is the 2nd generation Intel Core i3 processor. The presence of a HD webcam and 8X DVD SuperMulti drive are really commendable. However, it lacks any OS, a decent RAM and is extremely prone to scratches. 
Impressive yet affordable
Display and Build
 
The HP 2000-2201TU poses a 15.6-inch HD Brightview LED backlit Widescreen display which comes with the usual resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels. It appears to be chunky and anti portable with a thickness of 35.8 mm and a weight of 2.45 kg. The glossy imprint black licorice color may seem to be attractive but is susceptible to get affected by smudges and scratches easily.
 
Processor and Platform
 
At the heart of the HP 2000-2201TU, there is a 2.2GHz Intel Core i3 processor belonging to the 2nd generation and loaded on HM75 Express chipset. It is supported by a mere 2GB DDR3 RAM expandable up to 8GB via 2 DIMM slots. It takes care of demanding games and movies with the Intel HD 3000 graphics unit. It lacks any preloaded OS which is okay with respect to its price.
 
Camera, Storage and Multimedia
 
The HP 2000-2201TU flaunts a HP TrueVision HD webcam coupled with digital microphone for providing high resolution and noise free video calls. It accounts for your storage needs with a standard 500GB SATA HDD. The 8X DVD SuperMulti drive with dual layer support allows you to stream high quality media files at ease. The Altec Lansing stereo speakers score well in terms of sound.
 
Battery and Connectivity
 
The HP 2000-2201TU promises to deliver up to 3 hours of backup with a 6 cell Li-ion battery. The connectivity and networking package installed in the device includes features like HDMI port having HDCP key, VGA port, digital media reader, 3 USB 2.0 ports, WLAN, Bluetooth v4.0 and Ethernet port.
