Verdict

The HP Envy TouchSmart 14 TS14-1245TU is packed with a number of attractive features and comes at a slightly high price. It flaunts a superb multi touch display in a sleek and stylish package. Other positives include a good webcam, mind blowing speakers and access to the latest platform. But a better GPU was certainly expected at such a price.

Display and Design

 

The HP Envy TouchSmart 14 TS14-1245TU sports a vivid and sharp 14-inch HD LED backlit BrightView WXGA (1,366 x 768 pixels) display that makes viewing extremely pleasurable. It poses multi touch panel, the whole of which can be used for accessing and editing files at mere touches.

 

It is enclosed in a sleek 23mm thick package which doesn't carry much weight (2.1kg) looks gorgeous with the natural silver finish.

 

CPU and OS

 

On the inside, the laptop is loaded with an advanced 3rd generation Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.8GHz and paired with the HM77 Express chipset. The CPU draws support from a standard 4GB DDR3 RAM which can be expanded u to 8GB for better response. The laptop doesn't pose much lag while handling high quality videos due to the integrated Intel HD 4000 GPU. The absence of any external support for graphics is quite disappointing in such a high end notebook. It runs Windows 8 OS which is built for touchscreen gadgets.

 

Camera, Storage and Multimedia

 

The HP Envy TouchSmart 14 TS14-1245TU comes with a HP TrueVision HD webcam paired with digital microphone. In order to meet the storage demands of the users, it has a 500GB SATA hard disk. The laptop houses two stereo speakers accompanied with a subwoofer and powered by Beats Internal Audio which are bound to make the user groove.

 

Battery and Connectivity

 

The HP Envy TouchSmart 14 TS14-1245TU can deliver up to 3 hours of continuous service with its 4 cell Li-ion battery. You can connect to other gadgets and networks via options like Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth v4.0, WLAN, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, HDMI out, digital media reader and VGA port.
