[Exclusive] This Is Rohan, Google’s Pixel Watch

Update (August 2025): The Google Pixel Watch launched in October 2022 at the Made by Google event alongside the Pixel 7 series. The retail version of the smartwatch featured a round dial, a pebble-like display, and a digital crown, as shown in the exclusive render below.

Original story follows…

As a device that’s been literally years in the making and widely anticipated for even longer, Google’s first own-brand Wear OS device, a.k.a. the Pixel Watch, is most certainly the unicorn of the wearable space. Codenamed Rohan, and first shown off in unofficial imagery by FrontPageTech, the round-faced, digital-crown-equipped watch is finally starting to break cover, with a reveal (if not full-on release) expected soon.

The design language leans heavily into minimalism, with a smooth, pebble-like profile and an edge-to-edge curved glass display that blends seamlessly into the stainless steel frame. The round face is complemented by a small side button for additional controls. The back houses an array of health sensors for heart rate monitoring and other fitness metrics, arranged symmetrically for a clean look. The watch is expected to support Google’s proprietary quick-release bands, allowing for easy swapping between styles without special tools.

The render matches up closely with prior leaks: the same minimalist curves, identical heart rate iconography, and an icon pointing to Fitbit integration, a move that underlines Google’s intent to combine its software expertise with Fitbit’s deep experience in health and fitness tracking. The overall aesthetic appears to bridge premium styling with functional practicality, aiming to compete directly with the Apple Watch and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series.

As Google’s first-ever in-house smartwatch, the Pixel Watch carries significant weight for the company’s wearable ambitions. Until now, Wear OS hardware has been entirely reliant on partner brands, often resulting in inconsistent design quality and scattered feature sets. This watch could serve as a reference device for the platform, showing both consumers and OEMs what Google believes a true Wear OS flagship should be.

With reports coming in that Google has updated its online store to prepare for the watch’s rollout, and partners preparing their material in anticipation of the same, see featured image, top developments are poised to move very quickly in the days and weeks ahead.
