Ai+ is preparing another addition to its Nova 2 lineup, but this time it is opening the phone up to outside scrutiny before putting it on sale. The company has revealed the Ai+ Nova 2 Power smartphone through Project Open Review 2.0, giving reviewers, creators and ethical hackers early access while keeping a few details of the phone under wraps.
The programme is part of Ai+’s attempt to build credibility around a relatively new smartphone brand by allowing people outside the company to test its hardware and software before consumers can buy it.
Ai+ Nova 2 Power design, specifications
The Ai+ Nova 2 Power has a flat frame and a dual-tone rear design, with the company showing it in Blue Fusion and Golden Blue Fusion finishes. The Blue Fusion version transitions from a light blue at the top to orange towards the bottom, while Golden Blue Fusion combines a blue upper section with a gold-toned lower half. Both versions have a raised, rounded camera module containing two large camera rings, a flash and another circular element. The rear also carries Ai+’s branding, while a red power button adds a contrasting detail to the Golden Blue Fusion model.
Under the hood, the Nova 2 Power is revealed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100, a 6nm chipset. Ai+ has not yet disclosed the phone’s display, cameras, battery, RAM or storage, so its position within the Nova 2 range remains unclear. However, with the suffix “Power”, we expect it to go heavy on battery capacity, much like many phones launched in the mid-range recently. The chipset choice is notable because the existing Ai+ Nova 2 Pro already uses the Dimensity 7100. It launched at Rs 15,999 in June but is now available for Rs 17,999, with a 6.9-inch 144Hz display and 6,000mAh battery.
Project Open Review 2.0
Newly launched smartphone brand Ai+ is expanding its Project Open Review initiative rather than relying solely on conventional launch reviews. The first edition attracted more than 700 registrations. The second edition adds ethical hackers to reviewers, journalists, creators and technology enthusiasts. Participants will be able to test the phone’s performance, security and NxtQuantum OS software without being given a script or an expectation of a positive verdict. For Ai+, this creates an opportunity to identify problems before wider sales while also putting its claims about the device in front of independent testers. Community review programmes are becoming common with new players in the market, as Nothing also tried something similar with the Nothing Phone (4a) series.
For buyers, that could make the Nova 2 Power worth watching, but there is little reason to judge its value yet. We should wait for the company to reveal more details closer to launch.
