Apple may not be done with titanium in iPhones after all. According to Weibo tipster Instant Digital (via), the company is reportedly researching an improved version of titanium for future iPhone models, despite recently switching the iPhone 17 Pro series back to aluminum.
The move away from titanium surprised many because Apple had spent the last two generations positioning the material as a defining feature of its Pro iPhones. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro heavily marketed titanium for its lighter weight and premium feel compared to stainless steel.
