Fireflies.ai launches Email Assistant, bringing meeting context into the inbox for 20 million users

Fireflies.ai has just announced a new feature called Email Assistant. It’s an AI inbox tool that triages incoming email, drafts replies, and sends follow-ups by drawing on context from both email threads and past meetings. Available today on all Fireflies plans, including free. The launch marks the platform’s expansion from meeting notes into the broader daily workflow.

Pricing and availability

Email Assistant is available now on all Fireflies plans. The free plan includes access, with Pro starting at Rs 955 per seat per month billed annually. Users can connect a Gmail or Outlook account through the Email Connector inside the Fireflies dashboard.

Microsoft’s 2025 Work Trend Index found that the average worker receives 117 emails a day. Email has become the work that gets squeezed around meetings or left late at night, what Microsoft has called the infinite workday. Brand says for professionals with meeting-heavy schedules, the inbox falls behind precisely when it matters most. Fireflies Email Assistant is supposedly built to address that gap. By using the same meeting context the platform already captures to make inbox management faster and less repetitive.

What it does

  • Email Assistant connects to Gmail or Outlook and works across five core functions.
  • Auto Labels triages and labels incoming emails as they arrive. It supposedly surfaces priorities without modifying existing workflows or rules.
  • Auto Draft Replies generates replies using the email thread plus past meeting context with the relevant person, in a writing voice set by custom instructions. Nothing sends without user review.
  • Follow-Ups drafts a follow-up in the original thread when a sent email goes unanswered after a configurable waiting period.
  • Daily Briefs consolidates email insights and action items alongside meeting and Slack summaries into a single daily overview.
  • AskFred allows plain-English queries to find emails, summarise threads, or pull action items from the week.

The meeting context layer is what differentiates Email Assistant from standalone inbox AI tools. When a prospect or client follows up on something discussed in a previous call, Fireflies can surface that conversation and draft a contextually accurate reply. It is all done without the user needing to reconstruct the full history manually.

Fireflies mentions that it does not use customer data to train its models, keeping email and meeting content private by design.

Fireflies is making a deliberate transition from a single-purpose meeting notetaker into a broader AI work assistant. It ranges over meetings, email, Slack, and CRM. The email launch is the most visible step in that direction. The competitive landscape for AI email tools includes Superhuman, Microsoft Copilot for Outlook, and Google’s Gemini for Gmail. All of this works primarily within the inbox.
