Funtouch OS 14: Top exciting features that will completely revamp the user experience for iQOO users

Nothing beats the excitement of a big software update on your phone, as it gives you plenty of fresh features to explore and tailor to your liking. That’s currently the case with iQOO smartphone users who will soon be greeted by the Android 14 beta-based Funtouch OS 14 update that’s filled to the brim with awesome new additions aimed at enriching the user experience. This update focuses on everything from improving memory management and enhancing multitasking capabilities to offering new personalisation features. Moreover, fresh video editing tools also make their way into the package. Without wasting any more time, let us give you a short glimpse at what you can expect from the newly released software update.

An ultra-clean interface

A cluttered user interface creates tiny frustrations that are often at the root of having a bad mood. The makers of Funtouch OS are continuing to address this problem, as this version removes Hot Apps and Hot Games. In case you’re unaware, these are suggested apps and games that are present on your devices without your consent. Users of iQOO 12 who download the latest update will no longer see such applications and that’s great news.

Fast and smooth animations

One of the headlining features of Funtouch OS 14 is called Smooth Envision, and it’s an innovative approach towards making the user experience smoother inside and out. This is achieved with the two-fold approach of reducing the number of persistent processes and optimizing RAM usage. The excellent Smooth Envision feature creates up to 600MB more RAM space, thus delivering ultra-smooth animations along with swift multitasking. Moreover, the software is even home to an App Retainer feature that allows certain whitelisted apps to always be restored to their last interface so users can continue where they left off.

There’s another brilliant and innovative way in which Funtouch OS 14 enhances the overall smoothness of the user interface. We’re talking about the new Motion Blur feature that employs advanced algorithms to simulate silky smooth visual transitions even on 60Hz displays. This software-driven approach leads to an 18.7 percent increase in the overall smoothness of the interface on 60Hz panels.

Unique Kinetic Wallpapers

Funtouch OS 14 brings innovation in the wallpaper department as well. The new software introduces Kinetic Wallpapers that dynamically alter themselves throughout the day based on the number of steps you’ve taken. For instance, the wallpaper will feature an unbloomed flower when you start your day. But as soon as you begin your daily activities and start moving closer to your step goal, the flower will bloom until it reaches its final form. Not only does this provide you with a sense of achievement but it also gives you motivation to complete your daily move goal and look after your fitness.

And it’s not just flowers; Kinetic Wallpapers feature various different scenarios that change based on your step counts. The iQOO 12, for instance, features a Kinetic Wallpaper where you start at the bottom of a mountain and reach its peak when you complete the goal. Having such a dynamic wallpaper setup throughout the day is really exciting.

Always-on display

Among the plethora of new customization options in Funtouch OS 14 is an always-on display functionality that gives you something to look at even when the phone is in standby mode. Most importantly, this feature uses minimal battery power and doesn’t lead to battery drain. A set of four different always-on display choices are available, while more can be grabbed from the theme store. On the iQOO 12 in particular, the advanced nature of the phone’s display allows this feature to run at just 1Hz, leading to further battery savings.

Fresh lockscreen styles

While lockscreen customisation was previously limited only to the wallpaper, Funtouch OS 14 now lets you personilise it in a number of different ways. You can customize the clock style and even change the font styles of the digits. There are three clock styles and eight font styles, so plenty of different combinations are possible.

Step counting widget in Jovi Home

The Jovi Home is one of the most useful parts of the Funtouch experience and the new version of this software has introduced a major functionality to it in the form of a step counting widget. Thanks to this, just swiping right on the homescreen will let you take a detailed look at the progress of your move goal. And other than that, the Jovi Home will continue to have all its other widgets to guide you and serve you effortlessly throughout your day.

Awesome new video editing and album-browsing tools

The content creator inside you will love to know that new video editing tools have made their way into Funtouch OS 14. This will completely end your reliance on third-party apps, letting you create unique and captivating content right on your device. A set of 25 new filters have been added to the video editor and they’re all showcased in cleaner thumbnails to make it easier for you to select them.

Thanks to the new additions, you will now be able to customise video quality settings, including resolutions up to 4K at 60fps. Additionally, the software will even allow lossless exports, so your final output will have the same quality that the original videos have. Viewing these videos will also be a much better experience as all the albums in Funtouch OS 14 will allow users to adjust video playback speed, loop playback, and enjoy full-screen playback.

Do more with Mini Window

Funtouch OS 14 is even home to a Mini Window feature that does wonders for your multitasking experience. It enables small windows to float over other apps, so you can access and put them away quickly to continue with your usual browsing. This is incredibly useful for when you’re reading something on the device but need to quickly reply to a text from your friend.

Or if you’re busy watching a video but still need to keep track of where your Uber has reached. You can keep up to 12 small windows active in the background and even change their sizes swiftly.
