HMD has expanded its Vibe smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the new Vibe 2 Pro 5G. Positioned as a step up from the HMD Vibe 2 5G, which launched earlier this year, the new model brings upgrades to key areas including the display, cameras, and battery. It also gets a higher-resolution primary camera, 33W fast charging, and Android 16 out of the box. The HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G is aimed at buyers looking for a feature-rich 5G smartphone under Rs 20,000.
HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G price in India, availability
The HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G starts at Rs 15,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB model is priced at Rs 17,999. As part of a limited-period launch offer, the two variants can be purchased for Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999, respectively.
The smartphone will go on sale from October 8th on Flipkart, alongside Flipkart’s Big Billion Days (BBD) sale. It will be available in Silver Mist, Aqua Green, and Cosmic Purple colour options.
HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G specifications
The HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G features a 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher resolution should offer a sharper viewing experience than HD+ panels commonly found in this price segment, while the 120Hz refresh rate should make scrolling and supported animations feel smoother.
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 16 out of the box and is promised two years of security updates. The HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery and supports 33W wired charging. The battery capacity should be sufficient for an entire day’s usage. There are alternatives, though, like the OnePlus N6 Lite that offers a 7,000mAh battery.
For photography, the HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G gets a 64MP Sony IMX682 primary sensor and a 2MP macro camera. The phone also features a 13MP front camera for selfies and video calls. This camera setup is comparatively better than what you’d get with other phones in the same price segment.
The phone also features dual stereo speakers and retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes with Indus AI by Sarvam, which is designed to provide AI assistance across more than 22 Indian languages. The tools can be used for tasks such as drafting content, answering questions, and planning, with a focus on regional-language interactions. The smartphone also supports the Sanchar Saathi Safety app, adding another layer of telecom-related safety and utility for Indian users.
The HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G is aimed at buyers who want a large FHD+ 120Hz display, 5G connectivity, a good camera setup without crossing the Rs 20,000 mark. However, no OS upgrade makes it limited for users planning to keep their phone for a long time.
