iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max get Rs 5,000 price cut on Flipkart: should you buy?

Highlights
  • The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max get Rs 5,000 price cuts on Flipkart
  • The available bank offers can bring the effective discount to Rs 14,000 on either model

Apple iPhone 17 Pro models have received a price cut on Flipkart, giving buyers a chance to pick up the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max for Rs 5,000 less than their original prices. The discounts arrive just days before Apple’s next iPhone launch event, where the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be unveiled on September 9. Here’s a look at the updated prices and whether either model is worth considering right now.

The iPhone 17 Pro series gets an Rs 5,000 discount

Both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max (review) are now available at Rs 5,000 below their original prices on Flipkart. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at Rs 1,29,900, down from Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,44,900, compared with its original price of Rs 1,49,900.

There are further discounts available for buyers using select bank cards. For instance, SBI and ICICI credit card users can get an additional Rs 6,000 off, while the Flipkart Axis Bank credit card offers up to Rs 9,000 off. This brings the effective price of the iPhone 17 Pro down to as low as Rs 1,20,900, while the Pro Max can be bought for Rs 1,35,900 with the maximum bank discount.

If you’ve been eyeing these phones, you can get an effective discount of up to Rs 14,000 on either model. Do keep in mind that the additional bank discounts are subject to the respective card and offer terms.

Should you buy the iPhone 17 Pro series?

At these prices, the iPhone 17 Pro series is a pretty good deal, especially if you have been waiting for a price correction. The timing also works in Apple’s favour, as the discount could help move existing stock before the iPhone 18 series arrives. The new iPhones are just a week away from being announced, with sales expected to begin roughly another week later.

There is also a big question around how Apple will price the next generation. The ongoing rise in RAM and memory component prices could push up the launch prices of the iPhone 18 Pro models. We won’t know for sure until Apple announces the new phones, but it is something buyers should keep in mind.

If you’re using an older model such as the iPhone 13 Pro, 14 Pro, however, I’d recommend waiting for the iPhone 18 Pro series. The newer generation is expected to bring some worthwhile changes, including a smaller Dynamic Island and the new A20 Pro chip based on TSMC’s 2nm process, which could offer big improvements to both performance and battery efficiency. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also rumoured to get a variable-aperture main camera, although this may not come to the smaller Pro model.

For those already on the 16 Pro or 17 Pro series, the upgrade isn’t necessary at this point. You already have relatively recent hardware, and the improvements expected with the iPhone 18 Pro are unlikely to feel significant enough to justify upgrading.
