Newly released renders give us the best look at the upcoming iPhone 17e

Highlights
  • iPhone 17e is expected to debut next week.
  • It could feature the Dynamic Island replacing the notch.
  • iPhone 17e is also rumoured to launch at the same price as the iPhone 16e.

The iPhone 17e is tipped to debut as early as February 19th, as fresh rumours continue to build momentum around Apple’s next launch. The device is expected to be the second model in the “e” series, effectively taking over the affordable slot once occupied by the iPhone SE lineup. While several reports have already detailed its expected specifications, new high-resolution renders shared by FrontPageTech now offer the clearest look yet at the upcoming iPhone 17e, giving us an early glimpse of its design ahead of the anticipated unveiling.

The biggest design change and upgrade for the iPhone 17e will be the Dynamic Island, replacing the old notch. This will give the iPhone 17e a more updated look and more interactive features, too. It’s still a single camera at the back like the iPhone 16e, which could also be the same 48MP Fusion camera. This means you’ll get to take 24MP and 48MP photos, Portrait mode with Depth Control, Dolby Vision up to 4K at 60 fps, and Photographic Styles.

Apple might also add a new colour for the iPhone 17e, which is a very pretty lavender shade. We can see this becoming the popular pick if the iPhone 17e does launch in this colour. The other two shades are black and white, similar to the iPhone 16e. Overall, the iPhone 17e looks quite like its predecessor with the flat edges, metal frame, and the single camera. The only major differences are the Dynamic Island and the new colour.

More upgrades are expected under the hood. The iPhone 17e is expected to be powered by the A19 chip, the same one on the iPhone 17. This means you would be getting a similar level of performance as Apple’s flagship product. The iPhone 17e is also said to support MagSafe wireless charging. This feature was missing on the iPhone 16e, so it would be a major upgrade for the new model. It might also be a good buying factor as Apple’s big on accessories, and MagSafe is not only popular but helps with quickly charging up the phone too.

The iPhone 17e is also rumoured to feature the latest C1X cellular modem chip as well as the N1 chip for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Thread connectivity. It’s still a 6.1-inch display with a 60Hz refresh rate on the iPhone 17e, but with Dynamic Island.

The iPhone 17e is also highly rumoured to launch at the same starting price as the iPhone 16e. This means that the iPhone 17e could cost $699 for the base model, and possibly the same price in India too, which would be Rs 59,900. This is good news for anyone planning to upgrade to the iPhone 17e, and for Apple in general, as most new phones are seeing price hikes.

How these upgrades translate into real-world performance remains to be seen. However, based on the leaked details so far, the iPhone 17e could shape up to be a solid choice for buyers seeking a more affordable iPhone that covers the essentials while still delivering smooth performance and the familiar iOS experience.

That said, Apple plays by a different rulebook. On paper, the iPhone 17e may struggle to match some Android rivals in terms of raw hardware value. But iPhones continue to appeal for reasons beyond specifications, including long-term software support and ecosystem integration, which are factors that could still make the 17e an attractive option in its segment.
