iPhone 18e specifications leaked again: 60Hz display, Apple A20, and more

Highlights
  • iPhone 18e is expected to debut in spring 2027.
  • It will succeed the iPhone 17e.
  • The handset is also rumoured to launch alongside the iPhone 18.

Apple is expected to continue its ‘affordable’ iPhone lineup with the iPhone 18e, which would launch as the successor to the iPhone 17e. There have been several rumours around the iPhone 18e and its specifications. A new leak gives us a preview of what could be the spec sheet of the iPhone 18e. However, if this leak is believed to be true, then the upgrades might not be significant.

iPhone 18 specifications (expected)

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18e is said to feature a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED display with a 60hz refresh rate. Although we don’t have the complete details, it looks like the iPhone 18e will retain the same display as the iPhone 17e. Powering the iPhone 18e could be the 2nm A20 chip, which would be part of Apple’s latest chipset lineup. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are powered by the A20 Pro chip, so the A20 is expected to be a slightly toned-down version. This still ensures flagship performance for the iPhone 18e.

The iPhone 18e is also tipped to get a single 48MP rear camera, same as the iPhone 17e. However, Apple may upgrade the front camera from 12MP to 24MP on the iPhone 18e. This should result in better selfie camera performance on the upcoming iPhone. The tipster adds that the iPhone 18e will continue to be released in 2027, which will most likely be around early springtime in February or March.

Apple is also rumoured to increase the RAM capacity from 8GB to 9GB on the iPhone 18e to support more Apple Intelligence features. However, the iPhone 18e may not get all the latest Apple Intelligence features with iOS 27 as the minimum RAM requirement is still 12GB.

Based on what has been revealed so far, the iPhone 18e might offer an upgraded chipset and selfie camera. Other than that, the changes seem incremental. So unless a new processor or selfie camera is paramount, upgrading to the iPhone 18e might not make sense. But if you are switching to a new iPhone, you can still consider the iPhone 18e.
