OnePlus is set to launch their China-exclusive sub-flagship Ace series this week and has been revealing details about the phone. In the latest set of teasers, we get to know about the design, colour options and display details of the phones. Both phones will be available in three finishes, and the company has confirmed (via) that they will use the same fourth-generation Oriental Screen as the OnePlus 16. Additionally, OnePlus China President Louis Lee (Li Jie) has shared battery endurance figures for the series, along with details of its bypass charging feature. The new models will also use chipsets from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 series, although several other specifications remain unconfirmed.

OnePlus Ace 7 series design and colours

The OnePlus Ace 7 will be available in black, white and gradient finishes. The Ace 7 Pro will come in black and white, along with a third option called Pofeng, which roughly translates to “Windbreaker”.

The images show both phones with flat backs, metal frames and rectangular camera modules. The black variants have a dark finish with contrasting camera rings, while the white versions have a subtle blue sheen. The Ace 7’s gradient option combines orange and reddish tones, whereas the Pro’s Windbreaker finish has a blue-white appearance.

Both models have a similar rear camera layout, with a large primary camera and a second circular element.

Specifications and features

OnePlus has confirmed that both phones will feature its fourth-generation Oriental Screen, developed with BOE, which we saw on the flagship OnePlus 16. The panel uses customised X4 luminescent material, which the companies say improves clarity and transparency. It supports a refresh rate of up to 165Hz across the system, including menus and scrolling, and up to 185Hz in compatible games. A new LTPO circuit enables the higher refresh rate.

The display also includes OnePlus’ Super Display Chip P4 for handling high frame rate content and Bright Eyes Protection, developed with MedSight and Vision, to improve eye comfort. OnePlus China President Li Jie claims it’s the industry’s only 185Hz LTPO flagship ultra-high-definition display this year.

Both phones will use chipsets from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 series. The standard Ace 7 is said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5V, while the Ace 7 Pro will get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. OnePlus has also confirmed 9,000mAh batteries for the series. According to Li Jie, the batteries can deliver up to seven hours of continuous gaming at 185fps and up to 24 hours of video playback. Actual endurance will depend on the game, screen brightness, network conditions and other settings. The phones will also support hardware bypass charging, which supplies power directly to the phone’s components during demanding gaming sessions instead of routing it through the battery. This helps limit battery heating during extended play.

Camera specifications are yet to be fully confirmed. Leaks suggest both models will feature a 200MP main camera, while the Ace 7 Pro could add a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and optical image stabilisation (OIS). Both phones are also expected to have 16MP front cameras and ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanners.

Launch and availability

The OnePlus Ace 7 and Ace 7 Pro will launch in China on October 29th. Reservations are already open through OnePlus’ official Chinese store. Pricing and availability in other markets haven’t been announced.

The Ace series has previously served as the base for OnePlus’ R-series phones in India. The OnePlus Ace 6 series launched in the country as the OnePlus 15R, while reports suggest the Ace series’ Racing Edition could be rebranded as the Nord 7.

The 9,000mAh batteries and bypass charging support could appeal to people who play demanding mobile games for long stretches. The Ace 7 Pro may offer more camera flexibility if the reported periscope lens makes it to the final model, but pricing will be important in deciding whether it is worth choosing over the standard Ace 7. Current Ace 6/15R owners should consider the significant display and battery upgrades, but camera enthusiasts might want to see final camera performance metrics as well.
