iQOO confirms launch date for its first Ultra flagship, the iQOO 15 Ultra, aimed at gamers
iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 15 Ultra will be launched in China on February 4th. This is the first time the brand is using the ‘Ultra’ name. iQOO seems to be creating a new top-tier model focussed less on slimness or camera branding, and more on performance, especially for gaming.
The design is reminiscent of the gaming focus. The iQOO 15 Ultra looks more industrial than the standard iQOO 15, with a larger square camera module, a horizontal light strip, and a honeycomb-style rear texture. Part of that rear panel hides an air intake for an active cooling fan. These novel cooling features are becoming more common as flagship processors get harder to cool. Many mainstream phones can hit high benchmark numbers, but struggle to maintain performance once heat builds up and iQOO appears to be addressing that head-on.

The iQOO 15 Ultra is confirmed to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with iQOO’s Q3 gaming chip. This dual-chip approach is also a familiar strategy in flagship phones, where a secondary chip handles camera or gaming optimisation — whatever the phone is focussing on.
Gaming hardware is where the Ultra separates itself from regular flagships. It is expected to include pressure-sensitive shoulder triggers with a 600Hz sampling rate, dual symmetrical speakers, a large vibration motor, and an active cooling fan. iQOO has also claimed AnTuTu scores above 4.5 million, though real-world consistency will matter more than peak numbers for the audience this phone is aimed at.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the iQOO 15 Ultra will feature a 6.85-inch flat LTPO Samsung display with 2K resolution, along with configurations going up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. Cameras seem to be treated as a supporting feature rather than the main selling point. The phone is tipped to offer three 50MP rear cameras, including a 3x periscope telephoto lens, and a 32MP front camera. A battery rated at over 7,000mAh, with support for 100W fast charging and wireless charging, should be packed for the phone’s long-session use case.
In the wider market, the iQOO 15 Ultra is expected to sit between standard flagships from brands like Samsung and Xiaomi, and full gaming phones such as ASUS ROG or RedMagic. It offers gaming-focussed hardware without fully committing to bulky designs. For buyers who value stable performance over long sessions more than camera prestige, this is a phone worth tracking. For now, iQOO has only confirmed a China launch, with no word on other markets.
