iQOO 15R ditches 200MP camera rumours for 50MP camera: here’s why that’s fine

Highlights

iQOO has been aggressively teasing its new sub-flagship, the iQOO 15R. It’s confirmed to launch in India on February 24th as the first ‘R’ model in the flagship lineup, playing the role of an affordable alternative to the iQOO 15. But with every new detail revealed, the iQOO 15R is positioning itself as a flagship killer. iQOO has now revealed the camera details of the 15R, confirming the main sensor.

The iQOO 15R will feature a 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor as its primary camera. This is a notable shift from earlier expectations. This is based on speculation that the device is widely believed to be a rebranded version of the iQOO Z11 Turbo in China, which uses a 200MP Samsung HP5 sensor. Instead, iQOO appears to be prioritising image quality and consistency over sheer megapixel count.
