Lava has quietly expanded its Blaze Duo series with the introduction of the Blaze Duo 3. What sets it apart is its dual-display setup, a first in this segment, and notably, both panels are AMOLED. The primary front display handles everyday tasks and media consumption, while the compact secondary screen, positioned beside the rear camera module, serves as a handy glance panel for notifications. It also doubles up as a viewfinder for selfies, letting you use the rear cameras without guessing your framing.
The primary display is 6.67 inches tall and bears FHD+ resolution, up to 1,000 nits brightness, and a centre punch-hole for the selfie camera. The secondary display measures 1.6 inches. As for the cameras, the Lava Blaze Duo 3 ships with a dual setup, comprising a 50MP Sony IMX752 sensor. The sensor is backed by an f/1.8 aperture and AI. The front camera is an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calling. Both front and rear cameras are capable of capturing images at 2K resolution.
At the core of the Lava Blaze Duo 3 lies MediaTek Dimensity 7060 SoC paired with 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage onboard. To power the entire setup, the Lava Blaze Duo 3 sports a 5,000mAh battery backed by 33W charging speeds. The OEM claims that it is enough to power you through all-day use. It will be interesting to see how the battery will fare against competitors with a 7,000mAh battery in the segment.
Other features of the smartphone include an in-display fingerprint scanner, 5G connectivity, Bluetooth v5.2, and IP64 certification for protection against dust and water. As for dimensions, the Lava Blaze Duo 3 measures 7.55mm in thickness and weighs 181 grams.
On the software front, the smartphone ships with Android 15 out of the box, a clear USP in this price bracket. Lava is expected to stick to its near-stock Android approach, meaning little to no bloatware or intrusive ads, something that remains uncommon in this segment and should appeal to purists. The handset is promised to receive Android 16 and two years of security updates.
Coming to pricing, the Lava Blaze Duo 3 has officially been launched at Rs 16,999 and is available in two colour options: Imperial Blue and Moonlight Black. The handset can be fetched online via Amazon.in.
Beyond its dual-display concept, the smartphone offers largely standard specifications for the segment. It is powered by the same chipset as the Lava Blaze AMOLED 2, a device priced under Rs 15,000, which raises questions about its overall value.
The battery capacity also feels modest when compared to competing models, while the front camera resolution appears slightly underwhelming. That said, the rear camera setup is fairly competitive for the price. We will be putting the cameras, performance, battery life, and other features through their paces in our full review, so stay tuned to 91mobiles. Until then, buyers who prioritise performance and battery endurance may find better value in alternative options.
