Lava has launched the Lava Bold 2 5G in India, adding a new option to the sub-Rs 15,000 smartphone segment. The device brings a mix of features that are gradually becoming common at this price point, including a high-refresh AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity processor and a Sony-backed main camera.

The phone features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor. Panels like this were once reserved for more expensive phones, but several brands have begun pushing faster AMOLED screens into the budget category over the past couple of years.

Inside, the Bold 2 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 processor, paired with 6GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. These memory standards are still relatively uncommon in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment, where some devices continue to rely on older LPDDR4X RAM or slower storage. The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, a combination that should comfortably handle a full day of typical use. The body measures 7.55 mm thick and carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. On the camera side, the Bold 2 5G includes a 50MP Sony IMX752 main camera, while the front houses an 8MP selfie camera. The setup is straightforward, focusing on a single main sensor rather than multiple auxiliary lenses.

Lava is also continuing to emphasise software simplicity. The Bold 2 5G ships with Android 15 out of the box, and the company says the phone comes without ads, pre-installed bloatware or promotional notifications. The brand is also offering free home service, a feature Lava has been highlighting as part of its after-sales support strategy in recent launches.

The Lava Bold 2 5G is priced at Rs 12,999 for the 6GB + 128GB variant under a launch offer. Sales will begin on March 19th via Amazon, and the device will be available in Feather White and Midnight Black colour options.

The launch follows the Lava Bold 5G, which arrived in April 2025 starting at Rs 10,499. That device stood out at the time for bringing a 120Hz curved AMOLED display to a price bracket where most phones still relied on LCD panels. It ran on the Dimensity 6300 chipset, offered up to 6GB RAM, and included a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging along with a 64MP Sony camera.  Lava has updated the processor and memory while keeping the key elements that defined the earlier model — a fast AMOLED display, a large battery and a relatively clean version of Android.

Phones from POCO, Realme and Redmi regularly compete in the same price range, often offering similar battery capacities and fast-refresh displays. The Bold 2 5G’s clean Android interface and Lava’s home service support could appeal to users who want a straightforward phone without ads or heavy customisation, while still getting a modern display and capable everyday performance.
