July was a busy month for smartphone brands in India, giving more options for the buyers. We saw 12 new smartphone models launch during the month in the country. From budget handsets by Lava and Tecno to affordable 5G smartphones by Samsung and Xiaomi to mid-rangers by OnePlus and POCO and more premium models by OPPO, there were many new launches to cater to buyers across all segments. 1. OnePlus Nord 2
OnePlus Nord 2 is the successor to the original Nord phone that made its debut in 2020. It is powered by the custom-designed MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset, with up to 12GB RAM on offer. The device sports a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate support.
The biggest changes come in the design and imaging departments. Nord 2 borrows its looks from the premium OnePlus 9 series. The glass body adds a different touch of elegance that is much better than the first Nord phone. As for imaging, the phone features a 50MP triple rear camera with 8MP ultra-wide sensor and 2MP sensor. While on the front it has a 32MP selfie camera. And finally, the phone’s got a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging. OnePlus Nord 2 prices start from Rs 27,999.
2. POCO F3 GT
The much-anticipated POCO phone finally came to our shores this month. A rebranded Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, the POCO F3 GT goes up straight against the OnePlus Nord 2 and still offers more. The device features a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate support. Its design includes aerospace grade aluminium frame, along with IP53 rating. It also has tactical RGB lights that bring the X-factor to the device. POCO F3 GT price in India starts from Rs 26,999.
As for other features, it comes powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 octa-core chipset, with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The F3 GT also features a triple rear camera that consists of a 64MP primary sensor, along with 8MP ultra-wide sensor and 2MP macro sensor. On the front, it has a 16MP camera for selfies and more. POCO F3 GT packs a 5,065mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging.
3. Samsung Galaxy A22 5G
Galaxy A22 is the first 5G-capable A-series phone in India from Samsung. Apart from the high-speed connectivity, its main features include a 6.6-inch FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate support. It uses the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset for 5G support. The model gets up to 8GB RAM, along with 128GB storage that is further expandable via microSD card slot. The Galaxy A22 5G comes equipped with a triple rear camera system that includes 48MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The front of the phone has an 8MP selfie camera. 4. Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition
The latest addition to the M-series for Samsung is the Galaxy M21 2021 Edition. This smartphone is primarily meant for binging videos with long battery life. The device sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with standard 60Hz refresh rate. The screen gets a waterdrop notch as well. The phone comes powered by Exynos 9611 octa-core chipset with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage that is further expandable. It runs on Android 11-based One UI custome skin and comes loaded with a 6,000mAh battery that only supports 15W fast charging.
For imaging purposes, the phone has a triple rear camera setup that comes with 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front it has a 20MP selfie camera. Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is selling with a starting price tag of Rs 12,499 in India.
5. Redmi Note 10T 5G
Redmi Note 10 series got a 5G phone in July 2021 with the launch of the Redmi Note 10T 5G. Most of the features have been borrowed from the 4G-only Redmi Note 10 model though. But to give you 5G connectivity, Redmi Note 10T 5G packs MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset. The phone comes with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. Redmi Note 10T 5G comes equipped with a triple rear camera system that includes a 48MP primary camera, along with 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The front of the phone has an 8MP camera. 6. OPPO Reno 6 and Reno 6 Pro
OPPO Reno 6 series made its debut in India this month, with focus on different price segments with the regular Reno 6 and the Reno 6 Pro phones. Both the devices get a 90Hz AMOLED display and ColorOS based on Android 11 out of the box. While Reno 6 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC to give performance, the Pro version comes powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. Reno 6 and Reno 6 Pro prices in India start from Rs 29,990 and 39,990 respectively.

7. Vivo Y72 5G
Vivo also made the headlines with the launch of the mid-range Y72 5G phone in the market. The device sports a 6.58-inch FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate support. The phone comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset with 8GB physical and 4GB virtual RAM. You get it with 128GB internal storage that is further expandable. Vivo Y72 5G comes with a dual rear camera that has a 48MP primary sensor, and a 2MP monochrome lens. On the front it has an 8MP shooter for selfies. Vivo has packed the Y72 5G with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging as well as reverse charging. Vivo Y72 5G is available for Rs 20,990 in the country.
8. Lava Z2s
Moving to the budget arena, you have the new Lava Z2s smartphone. This device runs on the Android Go version which does not require heavy hardware to run apps. The phone sports a 6.51-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. It comes powered by MediaTek Helio G35 chipset along with 2GB RAM. You get 32GB internal storage that is expandable further. For imaging purpose, Lava Z2s has a single 8MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies. The device comes loaded with a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged using the built-in USB Type C port. Lava Z2s is priced at Rs 7,999 in India.
9. Tecno Camon 17 series
Tecno Camon 17 series looks to fight it out in the highly competitive mid-range segment. You have two devices: Camon 17 and Camon 17 Pro, priced starting from Rs 12,999 and Rs 16,999 respectively.
Talking about the specifications, Camon 17 features a 6.6-inch HD+ display but with 90Hz refresh rate and punch hole design. The device is powered by MediaTek Helio G85 SoC along with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It has a triple rear camera setup that includes 48MP primary sensor, a 2MP sensor and another one. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The Camon 17 Pro gets a bigger 6.8-inch FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate support. The Pro variant comes with a quad rear camera that has a 64MP primar sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The front of the phone gets a 48MP selfie camera. 10. Samsung Galaxy F22
Another Samsung phone that launched in July 2021 is the Galaxy F22. It is also priced in the sub Rs 15,000 bracket and looks to entice buyers with features such as the 6.4-inch FHD+ sAMOLED display, with90Hz refresh rate support in tow, MediaTek Helio G80 SoC with up to 6GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage. 11. Tecno Spark Go 2021
Apart from the Camon series, another budget Tecno phone to make its way in July is the Spark Go 2021 for an introductory price of Rs 6,699, after which it will cost buyers Rs 7,299. For this price, the device gets a 6.5-inch HD+ display and a waterdrop notch design. It comes powered by MediaTek Helio A20 SoC with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage that is further expandable. For imaging, the phone has a dual 13MP and 2MP rear camera and on the front it gets an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calls. Spark Go 2021 packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports standard charging speed. It runs on Android Go version out of the box.
12. Micromax In 2B
And the last device to launch in July is the Micromax In 2B budget smartphone. With a starting price tag of Rs 7,999 the device gets a 6.52-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. It is powered by Unisoc T610 SOC with up to 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The phone runs on the regular Android 11 version out of the box. Micromax is offering a dual rear camera on the In 2B that includes 13MP and 2MP sensors. On the front the phone has a 5MP selfie camera. The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W charging speed.
