July was a busy month for smartphone brands in India, giving more options for the buyers. We saw 12 new smartphone models launch during the month in the country. From budget handsets by Lava and Tecno to affordable 5G smartphones by Samsung and Xiaomi to mid-rangers by OnePlus and POCO and more premium models by OPPO, there were many new launches to cater to buyers across all segments. OnePlus Nord 2 is the successor to the original Nord phone that made its debut in 2020. It is powered by the custom-designed MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset, with up to 12GB RAM on offer. The device sports a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate support.

The biggest changes come in the design and imaging departments. Nord 2 borrows its looks from the premium OnePlus 9 series. The much-anticipated POCO phone finally came to our shores this month. A rebranded Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, the POCO F3 GT goes up straight against the OnePlus Nord 2 and still offers more. OPPO Reno 6 series made its debut in India this month, with focus on different price segments with the regular Reno 6 and the Reno 6 Pro phones. Both the devices get a 90Hz AMOLED display and ColorOS based on Android 11 out of the box. While Reno 6 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC to give performance, the Pro version comes powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset.
