Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 70 Max is headed to India, making it the fifth smartphone in the company’s Edge 70 series. A dedicated microsite for the upcoming phone is now live on Flipkart, offering the first official look at its design while teasing improvements in AI performance and wireless charging.
Although Motorola has not revealed the full specifications or launch date yet, leaks suggest the Edge 70 Max could become the most powerful model in the lineup, joining the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, Edge 70 Pro and Edge 70 Pro+.
The Flipkart microsite reveals a noticeably different design from the rest of the Edge 70 series. Unlike the curved displays found on the Pro and Pro+ models, the Edge 70 Max appears to feature a flat display and flat rear panel, along with a square-shaped camera module housing three rear cameras. The phone also includes an LED flash, while an additional button on the left edge could serve as the Moto AI Key.
Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 70 Max will offer a 46 percent improvement in NPU performance for AI workloads. The company has also teased wireless charging support, a feature currently limited to the Edge 70 Pro+ in the lineup.
Leaked marketing material suggests the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, compared to the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme processor used in the Edge 70 Pro+. This could make the Edge 70 Max the top performance option in the series. The handset is also expected to feature a triple rear camera setup comprising a primary, telephoto and ultrawide camera, and may arrive in Glacier Blue, Onyx Black and Sage Green colour options.
Motorola has been steadily expanding its AI offerings across the Edge lineup, and the Edge 70 Max appears set to continue that strategy. Leaked promotional material references ‘Qira,’ Motorola’s on-device AI assistant, which supports features such as real-time translation, text summarisation, AI-powered search and photo editing.
Motorola has not announced the Edge 70 Max’s launch date or pricing yet. However, given its flagship chipset, wireless charging support and premium camera hardware, it is expected to be positioned above the Edge 70 Pro+, which currently starts at Rs 47,999 in India. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5-powered Motorola Signature starts at Rs 57,499 in the country.
Priced competitively, the Edge 70 Max could appeal to buyers looking for flagship performance, a flat display and premium features without stepping into the ultra-premium segment. Those planning to upgrade from an older Edge series phone may find it worthwhile to wait for Motorola’s full announcement, as the company is expected to reveal more details in the coming days.
