Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ launching in India this week: specifications, price and everything we know so far

Motorola is adding another model to its Edge 70 lineup in India, and this one looks set to sit at the very top of the range. The Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ will launch on June 4th, joining the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion and Edge 70 Pro with a focus on camera hardware and premium features.

The company has already confirmed several details through teasers and product listings, while benchmark appearances have filled in some of the remaining gaps. From what we know so far, Motorola’s biggest upgrade isn’t the chipset or the display, it’s the camera system. The Edge 70 Pro+ will be the first phone in the series to feature a dedicated periscope telephoto camera.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ design details

Motorola is known to use materials and finishes to differentiate its phones, and the Edge 70 Pro+ continues that approach. The phone will be offered in Pantone Chicory Coffee, Pantone Stormy Sea and Pantone Zinfandel colour options, each paired with a different textured finish.

The Chicory Coffee variant uses a wood-inspired rear panel, while the other two versions feature twill and satin-inspired textures. It’s a small detail, but it could help the device stand out in a market full of glass-backed smartphones that often look interchangeable from a distance.

There’s also an additional button on the left side of the frame. Motorola hasn’t explained its purpose yet, though it could be used as a shortcut key for AI features or custom actions. Despite housing a large battery, the Edge 70 Pro+ remains relatively slim at just over 7mm thick and weighs 190g. The phone is also rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance and carries MIL-STD-810H certification.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ specifications revealed so far

The camera setup is where Motorola appears to be putting most of its attention. The Edge 70 Pro+ features a 50MP Sony LYT-710 main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a new 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. Motorola is also promising features such as improved night photography, frame stabilisation and up to 50x AI Super Zoom.

The phone gets a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and a claimed peak brightness of 5,200 nits. A 50MP autofocus camera handles selfies, while video recording goes up to 4K HDR10+ at 60fps.

Under the hood, the Edge 70 Pro+ is expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset alongside 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Interestingly, an earlier Geekbench listing pointed to a Dimensity 8400 chip instead. If Motorola’s official specifications are accurate, buyers should get the faster Dimensity 8500 Extreme. A 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the phone, with support for 90W wired charging, 15W wireless charging and reverse charging.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ expected price

Motorola hasn’t revealed pricing yet, but the Edge 70 Pro launched at Rs 38,999. Given the periscope camera, wireless charging and larger battery, the Pro+ is expected to land somewhere below Rs 50,000. That would pit it against phones such as the OnePlus 15R, Realme 16 Pro+ and iQOO 15R.

For buyers, the camera may be the deciding factor. Fast processors, large batteries and bright displays are no longer difficult to find in this segment, but a dedicated periscope camera still is. If Motorola gets the pricing right, the Edge 70 Pro+ could appeal to users who want flagship-style zoom photography without stepping into the Rs 60,000-plus category.
