Motorola Edge 70 Pro renders leak in wood, fabric and matte finishes
Motorola’s Edge series is getting a refresh, and the first look at the Edge 70 Pro suggests the company is carrying forward a design approach that’s now becoming familiar across its lineup. New renders, shared by YTECHB, show the phone in three finishes with each option using a different material rather than just a different colour.
Pantone colours for the Edge 70 Pro
The shades are named Pantone Titan (blue) and Pantone Zinfandel (maroon), and the third is an unnamed wood-textured variant. The blue variant uses a fabric-like finish, similar to what Motorola has experimented with in the past, while the maroon version has a brushed matte texture. The wood finish stands out the most, and it’s not entirely new. Motorola has already used wood-backed designs on recent Razr models, including the Razr 60 Ultra and the upcoming Razr 70 Ultra leaks, suggesting this is turning into a consistent design choice rather than a one-off.

The rest of the design is in line with the current Edge series. The phone features a quad-curved display with slim bezels, rounded corners, and a camera module that resembles the recently launched Edge 70 Fusion. There’s also a larger flash unit on the back and a new AI key on the left side, indicating quick access to on-device AI features.
On the hardware side, the Edge 70 Pro looks like a straightforward upgrade over the Edge 60 Pro. Certification listings and leaks point to a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging, up from the 6,000mAh unit on the previous model. Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and NFC.
The phone is also expected to feature a Sony Lytia camera system with ‘Super Zoom’ support, which could mean improved telephoto hardware or AI-assisted zoom processing. Motorola’s reported tagline, “Seize the Night,” suggests a focus on low-light photography this year. HDR10+ certification for the Edge 70 Pro and a likely Pro+ variant also points to improved display quality, especially for streaming and high-contrast content.
The Edge 70 Pro is expected to succeed the Edge 60 Pro, but it may not be the top model this time. A new Edge 70 Pro+ is also in the works, which could sit above it with additional upgrades. Both are likely to sit below Motorola’s higher-end Signature lineup. In terms of pricing, Motorola appears to be targeting the sub-Rs 40,000 and sub-Rs 50,000 segments more aggressively. That puts the Edge 70 Pro in direct competition with devices from brands like OnePlus, iQOO, Vivo and Redmi, where performance, cameras, and battery life are closely matched.
The Edge 70 Pro looks like a balanced option with a large battery and camera focus, now paired with more distinctive finishes. Competing phones from OnePlus or iQOO may offer stronger performance tuning, while Samsung continues to lead on software support and ecosystem features. Motorola has not confirmed a launch date yet, but based on recent activity, an announcement is likely soon.
