Motorola seems to be gearing up to launch a new series of premium smartphones, teasers of which have already started. Flipkart briefly teased the upcoming ‘Signature’ series from the company, confirming that the phone(s) will be available on the platform, but has now removed the page. Although Motorola hasn’t made an official announcement yet, the e-commerce platform has created a promo page. It looks like the start of an entirely new series rather than an extension of the Edge lineup.
The Flipkart page displays the line ‘Signature Class is Coming Soon!’ and invites users to guess the brand behind it. The hints leave little room for doubt as Motorola’s batwing logo and long-running partnership with Pantone are there. The page then asks the user to “Come back on 28th Dec,” which is probably when more concrete details will be revealed.
A device codenamed ‘Urus’ had leaked earlier this month, and it was believed that this was the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra. It seems that Motorola has rebranded the phone as the Motorola Signature and it could be used to anchor the new Signature series. This would make the Signature one of the first, if not the first, phones under the new branding.
Thanks to recent renders shared by tipster Evan Blass, we know what the design could be like. The renders reveal the Motorola Signature in two finishes: Carbon and Martini Olive. There’s a punch-hole display on the front and a squircle-shaped camera module on the back housing three cameras, including what looks to be a periscope telephoto lens. There’s text next to the flash that suggests some of the camera specifications and support for Dolby Vision. This would mean Motorola is emphasising imaging and multimedia.

If rumours are to be believed, the Motorola Signature may be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset and up to 16GB of RAM. It is said to ship with Android 16 out of the box. The panel is tipped to be a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which has kind of become the baseline for premium Android phones. All rear sensors are expected to be 50MP units, a quite common placement on flagship models this year.
If these specifications hold, the Motorola Signature will likely compete directly with sub-flagships like the OnePlus 15R, which employs the same Snapdragon chipset. Realme is also said to be introducing a periscope camera in the upper mid-range segment with its upcoming Realme 16 Pro series.
A lot will depend on pricing and how Motorola differentiates the Signature series from its Edge lineup. Positioned aggressively, the Signature has the potential to attract buyers who seek flagship-class performance along with clean software but without ultra-premium prices.
