OnePlus has confirmed the OnePlus Nord 6 will launch in India on April 7th at 7 pm IST. The phone is expected to bring strong mid-range performance backed by a 9,000mAh battery, claimed to be the largest in the Rs 35,000 – Rs 40,000 price range. This also tells us the Nord 6 will be priced under Rs 40,000 in India. The device will be sold via Amazon in in three colours – Holographic Quick Silver, Fresh Mint, and Low-Reflection Pitch Black.
The OnePlus Nord 6 keeps things simple in terms of design. It has flat edges and a clean back, with a matte finish that should feel comfortable to hold and not pick up too many smudges. The colours add enough personality without going overboard. The camera module is a square-shaped bump with rounded corners, sitting neatly in the top corner. The lenses are spaced out in a way that feels balanced with a small flash alongside.
At the heart of it is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, which is expected to put the Nord 6 a notch above the usual mid-range chips. OnePlus is framing it as a big jump over rivals like the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, at least on paper. In benchmark tests, OnePlus says the Nord 6 scores noticeably higher than the Edge 60 Pro’s Dimensity 8350 Extreme with up to 136 percent better CPU performance. On AnTuTu, the Nord 6 is said to score around 2.5 million, compared to about 1.44 million for the Edge 60 Pro under the same conditions. There’s also a new Wi-Fi chip and support for newer 5G standards, though in day-to-day use, that will depend as much on network conditions as the hardware itself.
Gaming is where the Nord 6 has clear spec advantages. The company claims support for up to 165fps gameplay in titles like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile, along with extras like a high touch sampling rate and more precise motion controls. Whether games actually sustain those frame rates consistently will be seen later, but it signals the phone is aimed at people who care about smooth, responsive gameplay.
The display follows the same thought. A 165Hz AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution puts it ahead of the usual 120Hz screens in this price bracket. Brightness figures are high too with HDR peak brightness of up to 3600 nits, which should help outdoors.
The battery is also a standout spec for the segment. At 9,000mAh, it’s unusually large for a phone in this segment, almost double what many competitors offer and much bigger than the standard 7,000mAh these days. If it holds up in real-world use, this could easily be a two-day phone for most people. Charging is rated at 80W, and there’s support for bypass charging, which helps reduce heat during long gaming sessions.
The Nord 6 will likely go up against phones from Redmi, Realme, Nothing and Motorola in the Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 range. Those devices already offer strong performance and fast charging, but battery life and gaming could become the Nord 6’s main differentiator. If you want a phone that can handle gaming without slowing down and doesn’t need to be charged every night, the Nord 6 could be worth a look. If cameras or a more balanced overall experience matter more, the final picture will depend on those details once OnePlus reveals them.
OnePlus seems to be nudging the Nord series towards people who care more about speed and battery than anything else. Instead of trying to tick every box, it’s focusing on performance and endurance to stand out. It also helps keep the Nord lineup relevant for younger users while the main OnePlus phones keep moving upmarket.
