Ahead of its July 31st launch in India, OnePlus has revealed another key specification of its upcoming N6x smartphone. After previously teasing up to 2.5 days of battery life on a single charge, the company has now confirmed that the device will pack a large 7,000mAh battery. The OnePlus N6x is also revealed to feature a display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

It’s worth noting that the N6x doesn’t quite match the battery size of the OnePlus N6, which features an even larger 8,000mAh unit. Even so, a 7,000mAh battery should still comfortably outperform the typical 5,000mAh to 6,000mAh batteries found in most budget smartphones.
According to OnePlus’ promotional claims on Amazon India, the N6x’s battery is capable of delivering up to 20.56 hours of video playback, up to 133.56 hours of music playback, up to 25.04 hours of social media browsing, and up to 11.26 hours of continuous video recording. These figures suggest the phone is aimed at users who prioritise endurance and use their phone primarily for watching videos, movies, and social media browsing. Frequent travelers, students, and heavy media consumers are likely to benefit the most from the extended battery life.
OnePlus has yet to reveal the charging speed of the N6x. The N6 supports 45W wired fast charging, so there’s hope the new model will retain the same charging capability. A slower charging solution could somewhat offset the advantage of the large battery, since bigger cells naturally take longer to refill.
If battery life is your top priority and you’re shopping in the budget segment, the N6x is shaping up to be a compelling option. However, buyers should wait for the complete picture before making a decision. Charging speeds, chipset performance, camera quality, software support, and pricing will ultimately determine how competitive the N6x is against rivals.
With the official launch scheduled for July 31st, OnePlus is expected to reveal the remaining specifications, including the processor, cameras, display, charging speed, and pricing, over the coming days.
