OPPO Reno 16 series, A6s, A6x, and K13 Turbo Pro could receive price hikes of up to Rs 5,000 in India

Highlights
  • The OPPO Reno 16c could become the most expensive phone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor.
  • The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4-powered OPPO Reno 16 could cost more than the Xiaomi 17T with Dimensity 8500 Ultra.
  • The OPPO A6s 5G now rivals the Realme 16x and OnePlus N6.

After iQOO, Redmi, and Vivo raised the prices of their smartphones across various segments, a new tip hints that OPPO may hike the prices of the Reno 16, Reno 16c, A6s 5G, and A6x 5G tomorrow, i.e. August 18th. The price increase is likely linked to the memory shortage crisis the entire smartphone and tech industry is currently facing, as storage and memory components are being acquired by AI companies, thereby reducing the supply available for commercial use.

Are these phones still worth purchasing?

OPPO Reno 16

Given the tip turns out to be true, the OPPO Reno 16 at Rs 66,999 will go against the Xiaomi 17T, a similar camera-focused smartphone that currently sells for Rs 64,999. On the other hand, the Vivo X200T is still selling for Rs 59,999 on Flipkart, which offers the much superior Dimensity 9400+ over the Reno 16’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. However, the Reno 16 targets users who need a compact, handy phone, thanks to its 6.3-inch display. It also features a 3D hologram pattern on the rear, which is sure to catch attention in public.

Given these two aspects, if you’re the right target audience, the Reno 16 could be worth a look, even if it means fewer performance gains than others in the under Rs 70,000 segment. Other compact phones, such as the Vivo X300 FE, are now touching the Rs 90,000 price mark.

OPPO Reno 16c

The OPPO Reno 16c, with a retail price of Rs 49,999, will make it one of the most expensive phones in India to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. However, given that it offers a flexible rear camera setup with a 50MP telephoto lens alongside the primary and ultrawide lenses, it remains one of the few picks for users wanting a camera-oriented smartphone.

Its rivals include the POCO X8 Pro Max, OnePlus Nord 6, and the Redmi Turbo 5, none of which offer a telephoto lens for long-range zoom shots or sharp close-ups. However, if a balanced approach to performance and a reliable primary camera is something you expect from your smartphone, opting for the stated rivals could be a wiser choice.

OPPO A6s and A6x

The OPPO A6s and A6x now match the price points of other Dimensity 6300-based smartphones, such as the Realme P4R, Realme 16x, and OnePlus N6, all of which also retail between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000. Given the similar set of specifications across all these handsets, such as an HD+ display, a 50MP primary camera, over 7,000mAh batteries, and similar performance gains, opting for either will offer you a similar day-to-day experience.

OPPO K13 Turbo Pro

The OPPO K13 Turbo Pro remains an excellent choice for hardcore mobile gamers and casual users. With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 on board, it still costs less than the OnePlus Nord 6 (Rs 46,999), while offering a similar software experience. On top of this, it also gets a dedicated cooling fan to keep temperatures in check during intensive gaming, while the camera setup is modest, with a 50MP + 2MP rear setup, whereas the Nord 6 gains an 8MP ultrawide lens.
