OPPO K15 Turbo, K15 Turbo Pro could gain improved processors and battery capacities

Highlights
  • OPPO K15 Turbo and K15 Turbo Pro could rock MediaTek Dimensity processors.
  • OPPO K15 Turbo could feature a smaller screen size compared to the K13 Turbo.
  • The smartphones may launch in China soon.

While OPPO has confirmed the release of the OPPO Find X9 Ultra in the global markets, the brand appears to be working on the next generation of gaming and performance-focused smartphones under the K lineup. Dubbed the OPPO K15 series, two OPPO smartphones have popped up on China’s TENAA certification database under the model codes PMH110 and PMG110, which are widely speculated to be the K15 Turbo and K15 Turbo Pro. As a potential successor to the K13 Turbo series, the listing also reveals alleged specifications of the devices.

Apart from that, tipster DCS on Weibo has also revealed several key specifications of the K15 Turbo series today.

OPPO K15 Turbo specifications: MediaTek’s chipset could be on board

Given the specifications revealed on TENAA’s database, the standard OPPO K15 Turbo could feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 with up to 3.4GHz, a marginal upgrade over the Dimensity 8450 found on the OPPO K13 Turbo. On the other hand, the K15 Turbo Pro is said to gain the Dimensity 9500s SoC, indicating that OPPO could shift entirely to MediaTek processors for both models, given the K13 Turbo Pro was equipped with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Regardless, both chipsets should offer raw performance improvements across the board.

Furthermore, the biggest highlight of the K15 Turbo series could revolve around the built-in cooling fan, which is to be seen just beside the camera modules of both handsets. Along with a large vapour chamber, the cooling fan should assist in better thermal efficiency and lower the internal temperatures when running graphics-intensive games. DCS says both handsets will feature a metal frame, which should help further dissipate heat.

Moving on to the display details, the K15 Turbo is said to pack a 6.59-inch OLED screen at 1.5K resolution with a claimed 165Hz refresh rate, while the K15 Turbo Pro could sport a bigger 6.78-inch panel with the same refresh rate and resolution. With a 6.59-inch display, the K15 Turbo could offer better ergonomics and grip over the smartphone, just as was the case with OPPO’s recent offerings, like the OPPO Reno 15 and Reno 15c. Furthermore, it appears that OPPO is taking some cues from the OnePlus 15 and 15R by rocking 165Hz refresh rates, which could result in smoother gameplay in supported titles.

While the camera systems on both smartphones could remain modest with a 50MP primary, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 16MP front shooter combo, the OPPO K15 Turbo series could see a bump in battery capacities, per DCS. The OPPO K15 Turbo could come with a typical capacity of 7,500mAh, while the K15 Turbo Pro may get an 8,000mAh battery, an increase of 600mAh and 1,000mAh, respectively, over the K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro. While the charging speeds haven’t been revealed, expect the phones to at least get 80W fast charging support.

Where could the OPPO K15 Turbo series stand in terms of pricing in India?

Given the hardware upgrades over the OPPO K13 Turbo series, along with the rise in memory prices across the smartphone industry, the K15 Turbo and K15 Turbo Pro could see a noticeable price increase. For reference, the K13 Turbo was launched at Rs 27,999, while the K13 Turbo Pro retailed for Rs 37,999. Both these smartphones made their debut in India in August. Given their sightings on TENNA’s, these devices’ launch could just be around the corner in China, while the India launch may happen a few months later.

Considering the alleged processors on board, OPPO could follow the same dual MediaTek Dimensity processors strategy as the POCO X8 Pro series. The POCO X8 Pro and POCO X8 Pro Max also happen to carry the Dimensity 8500 and Dimensity 9500s processors, respectively. So, it’s highly likely that the K15 Turbo series may not only rival the POCO smartphones in terms of specifications, but also in pricing when it lands in India. Meaning, the K15 Turbo series could sit between Rs 35,000 and Rs 43,000 if the company decides to price the phones aggressively.

If you’re in the market for a high-end gaming phone with large battery capacity and potentially decent cooling capabilities, the OPPO K15 Turbo series could be worth looking forward to if you’re coming from a mid-range and budget smartphone.
