Highlights
  • The OPPO Reno 17 series is confirmed to launch in China on November 9th, followed by a tipped India debut in December.
  • The Reno 17 and Reno 17 Pro could reuse the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and Dimensity 8550 chipsets from their predecessors.

OPPO has confirmed it’s introducing its premium mid-range Reno 17 series in China on November 9th. There’s no official word on the India launch yet, but tipster Gadgetsdata says the India launch is reportedly planned for December. The brand has also teased the phone with a glowing cat on the rear.

The upcoming lineup could include the Reno 17, Reno 17c and Reno 17 Pro, with larger batteries emerging as the main upgrade over the Reno 16 generation. Leaked specs suggest that OPPO may stick with existing chipsets for the standard and Pro models rather than make a significant performance jump.

OPPO Reno 17 series design

OPPO’s latest Reno 17 teaser offers a look at the phone’s rear design, which is striking because of a glowing cat. It appears to retain the Reno 16 series’ square camera island with three camera rings and an LED flash. The overall layout is familiar, although the new finish with a cat-inspired glowing effect on the back panel is quite exciting. This would also give the Reno 17 a different visual identity from the Reno 16’s 3D Pop Planet design, which used a floating planetary effect, a glitter finish and a distinctive ring around the camera module. For the Reno 17 series, leaked colour options include Snow White, Ice Moon White, Cocoa Brown, Starlight Pink and Encounter Cat, although OPPO has so far teased lighter blue, white and brown tones. The Encounter Cat finish could be the one associated with the illuminated design seen in the teaser.

OPPO Reno 17 series specifications

According to Gadgetsdata, the Reno 17 could use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while the Reno 17c may feature the Dimensity 7300. The Reno 17 Pro is tipped to get the Dimensity 8550. All three phones are reportedly getting 1.5K OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates, 80W wired charging and IP69-rated protection. The lineup could also feature a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP telephoto camera. A dedicated Snap Key is also tipped, while the design is said to remain similar to the Reno 16 series. The Reno 17c may be the only model with a plastic frame.

Earlier, tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the Reno 17 and Reno 17 Pro would feature 50MP periscope telephoto cameras. The standard model is tipped to have a 6.5-inch display and an 8,000mAh-class battery, while the Pro could feature a smaller 6.3-inch panel and a 7,200mAh-class battery. These capacities would be notable increases over the Reno 16 series, which offered batteries of up to 6,700mAh. The earlier leak also suggested that the two phones would retain the same chipsets as their predecessors, indicating that battery life and camera hardware could take priority over performance.

The OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16c launched in India in July 2026, starting at Rs 61,999 and Rs 46,999, respectively. The Reno 16 offered a 6,700mAh battery, while the Reno 16c had a larger 7,000mAh cell. Both supported 80W charging. The Reno 17 series could therefore bring a more substantial battery upgrade, particularly if the standard model gets an 8,000mAh-class cell. The reported chipset choices, however, suggest limited performance gains for the Reno 17 and Reno 17 Pro. This could be a way for OPPO to manage costs amid rising component prices.

The Reno 17 series could compete with upcoming phones such as the Vivo S70 lineup. Buyers considering the Reno 16 or Reno 16c may want to wait for the December launch if battery life and camera versatility are priorities.
