OPPO Find X10 Ultra reportedly cancelled despite ambitious camera, chipset leaks

Highlights
  • The OPPO Find X10 Ultra may have been shelved or undergone a major change in development, according to tipster Digital Chat Station.
  • The phone was reportedly being tested with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro despite earlier Snapdragon chipset leaks.
  • The development comes amid reports that Xiaomi has also shelved its next Ultra flagship, while Vivo’s X500 Ultra is still expected in 2027.

OPPO’s next camera-focused flagship may not arrive after all. The OPPO Find X10 Ultra, which was expected to launch in the first half of 2027, has reportedly run into development issues. The development comes shortly after leaks suggested that OPPO was testing the phone with the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, alongside an ambitious camera system. A new post from tipster Digital Chat Station now suggests that the project could have been discontinued or undergone a major change.

OPPO Find X10 Ultra launch cancelled?

In a Weibo post (via), Digital Chat Station mentioned that another super-sized flagship project had changed course, without naming the manufacturer or device. When a user suggested that the next-generation model had been discontinued, the tipster replied, “This generation.” The exchange has fuelled speculation that the Find X10 Ultra could be affected, although DCS hasn’t explicitly identified OPPO or confirmed that the phone has been cancelled.

Earlier leaks had suggested that the phone could feature a 200MP primary camera with a large 1/1.12-inch sensor and LOFIC technology, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP periscope lens with 10x optical zoom. A 200MP Samsung HP5 ultrawide camera and a 100MP square selfie camera were also reportedly under consideration.

The chipset choice was another interesting aspect of the phone’s development. The OPPO Find X10 Ultra was initially expected to use Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, but more recent reports pointed to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro. The latter variant was reportedly being tested with chip-level imaging algorithms. Other leaked specifications included an 8,000mAh-class battery and a 6.89-inch 2K 144Hz display. If the project has indeed been shelved, OPPO could lose a potential rival to other premium camera flagships expected in 2027.

If the tip is true, OPPO wouldn’t be alone in reconsidering its Ultra lineup. Xiaomi’s next-generation Xiaomi 18 Ultra has also reportedly been cancelled, with the company expected to focus on its Pro Max model instead. Meanwhile, Vivo’s X500 Ultra has previously been linked to changes in its global launch plans, although it’s still reportedly in development for a 2027 global debut.

With the Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max already available, buyers looking for OPPO’s current top-end camera phone need not wait for an Ultra model whose future is uncertain. Those considering a 2027 flagship, however, should wait for official announcements before making a decision. It remains to be seen whether OPPO has cancelled the Find X10 Ultra or is simply reworking its plans.
