OPPO Reno 16 Pro, Reno 16 early leaks reveal key specifications, June debut in China tipped

The OPPO Reno 15 series launched in India earlier this year, in January. This time, OPPO introduced four smartphones, including the OPPO Reno 15, Reno 15 Pro, Reno 15c, and Reno 15 Pro Mini. These phones are still fresh in the market, but OPPO is already preparing its succeeding lineup. The OPPO Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro are tipped to launch in China soon, with leaks revealing their key specifications. OPPO is known to refresh its Reno series twice a year, so the news isn’t entirely surprising.

The upcoming Reno 16 lineup is reportedly set to debut around June, bringing a mix of upgrades across the series.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the OPPO Reno 16 Pro is expected to sport a 6.78-inch flat OLED LTPO display with slim bezels and a 1.5K resolution. Its design may take a more premium turn, potentially featuring a metal frame instead of the materials used in earlier versions. Under the hood, it could run on the Dimensity 9500s chipset and house a large battery, possibly around 7,000mAh, which could easily offer two days of use. Charging details aren’t confirmed yet, but it may support roughly 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, similar to its predecessor.

The Reno 16 Pro would be the top-end model in the lineup, and with this hardware, it would be positioned more as a sub-flagship.

On the camera front, the Reno 16 Pro is rumored to include a 200MP main sensor along with a periscope telephoto lens, likely maintaining a setup close to the Reno 15 Pro’s combination of high-resolution main, ultra-wide, and periscope cameras. The Reno 16 Pro is prioritising cameras as well as offering a versatile setup. The 200MP sensor, especially with a periscope lens, suggests exceptional zoom capabilities and detailed portrait shots.

Storage options could range from 12GB+256GB up to 16GB+512GB, with a 1TB variant also being considered. Pricing is expected to fall between 4,000 and 5,000 CNY (around Rs 54,800), and color options may include white, black, purple, and green.

Meanwhile, the standard Reno 16 is said to follow a more compact approach, featuring a 6.3-inch display. It may be powered by a Dimensity 8-series chipset, possibly the Dimensity 8500. While most of its specifications remain undisclosed, it’s likely to carry forward a triple-camera system similar to its predecessor, potentially including a 200MP main sensor alongside two 50MP lenses.

OPPO launched the Reno 15 Pro Mini as its compact offering in India, so the branding could change depending on the market.

The OPPO Reno 16 series will debut in China, and is expected to arrive in other markets, including India, later.
