According to an X post by tipster Debayan Roy, OPPO is currently testing a teleconverter accessory for the Reno 17 series. The accessory could give the phone’s camera additional reach, making it possible to capture distant subjects with superior clarity.
A teleconverter essentially adds additional magnification to a camera system, allowing users to capture distant subjects more closely without relying entirely on digital zoom. If OPPO eventually brings the accessory to market, it could give the Reno 17 series a serious boost in long-range photography.

Why include a teleconverter for the Reno series?
OPPO already supports a teleconverter accessory on the Find X9 Pro, so bringing a similar feature to the Reno 17 series could effectively bring a flagship-style camera accessory to the company’s traditional premium lineup.
This could make sense as the Reno series continues to move further upmarket in terms of pricing. The Reno 16 (review), for instance, sits around Rs 67,000 in India, putting it within reach of traditional flagship pricing. Adding a more capable hardware accessory could then give OPPO another way to differentiate the Reno series and make it more appealing to camera enthusiasts.
