Google Pixel 10 series launched in India with Tensor G5, 12GB RAM, and Qi2 magnetic charging
Google has officially unveiled its 2025 smartphone lineup: the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL. Alongside the trio, Google also announced its latest foldable, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The new models feature a new 3nm Tensor G5 chipset, Qi2 magnetic charging, advanced AI capabilities, and notable enhancements to the cameras, including the base model getting a telephoto lens. Starting at Rs 79,999, the Pixel 10 series aims to attract buyers looking for a flagship phone that delivers AI performance, dependable cameras, and Google’s clean and long-lasting software support. This time around, the Pixel 10 series feels less about radical redesign and more about refining performance, cameras, and AI features.
At the heart of all the new Pixel phones is the Tensor G5 chip with the Titan M2 security coprocessor. Google says the Tensor G5 should run at higher clock speeds without throttling, something previous Tensor chipsets were known to do. Built on the faster 3nm process, the Tensor G5 is said to deliver 60 percent more powerful TPU 1 and 34 percent faster CPU than the previous generation. What does this mean for the Pixel 10 series? TSMC-made chips are expected to be more power-efficient than Samsung’s, which should result in better performance for the Pixel 10 phones, an area Google has lagged among rivals. Take the Pixel 9, for example, which had the lowest benchmark scores among the flagships of 2024. While the Pixel 9 phones handle everyday use-cases well, they still struggle with sustained heavy workloads and tend to heat up under pressure. Google has arguably done the best job in bringing AI to smartphones, but when it comes to raw performance, it still has ground to cover.
The Pixel 10 phones also come with the Gemini Nano on-device model. The new AI features include Magic Cue, which brings smarter, more personalised assistance to Pixel by anticipating your needs and surfacing relevant info in real time. For example, it can show your flight details when you call the airline or instantly pull up your Airbnb address to share with a friend. Then there’s the new Camera Coach, which analyses the scene to suggest the best angles, lighting, and modes.
With these additions, Google continues to push the envelope in smartphone AI, a space where it arguably leads the industry. While Apple and Samsung are gradually rolling out AI features, Apple, through its ‘Apple Intelligence’ suite (limited availability) and Samsung with Galaxy AI, Google’s approach still feels more deeply integrated into the Pixel experience, offering practical use cases that extend beyond novelty and into everyday convenience.
The Pixel 10 series retains Google’s Actua and Super Actua displays, with size and refresh rate differences across the lineup. The Pixel 10 comes with a 6.3-inch Actua display that supports a 60–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR brightness up to 2,000 nits, and peak brightness of 3,000 nits, higher than the Pixel 9’s 2,700 nits. The Pixel 10 Pro features a 6.3-inch Super Actua display with a 1–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR brightness of up to 2,200 nits, and a peak brightness of 3,300 nits, making it slightly brighter than previous models. The larger Pixel 10 Pro XL features a 6.8-inch Super Actua display with the same refresh rate and brightness levels as the Pro. All three models are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Google claims the Pixel 10 series delivers over 24 hours of use, or up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. Batteries see only slight bumps: Pixel 10 (4,970mAh vs 4,700mAh on Pixel 9), Pixel 10 Pro (4,870mAh vs 4,700mAh on Pixel 9 Pro), and Pixel 10 Pro XL (5,200mAh vs 5,060mAh on Pixel 9 Pro XL). These upgrades are modest, but combined with the power-efficient Tensor G5, users might see slightly better battery life out of the Pixel 10 phones than they did from the Pixel 9.
The Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro support 30W fast charging, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL goes further with 45W fast charging. These aren’t the fastest wired charging speeds, but then again, rivals like iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25 don’t do any better.
All three phones introduce Qi2-certified Pixelsnap wireless charging, bringing magnetic charging to Pixel devices for the first time. The Pixelsnap wireless charger can charge the Pixel 10 Pro XL up to 25W, and the other three Pixel 10 models or any Qi2-certified devices at 15W. There are Pixelsnap Cases in matching colours for each phone available to buy as well.
The Pixel 10 features a 48MP wide camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a new 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. This is a much-needed upgrade from a dual-camera setup to a more versatile triple-camera system, and it should mean better zoom photography on the base model. Its selfie camera is still a 10.5MP Dual PD sensor with autofocus. For heavy photographers, the Pro models remain the better buy, but the base Pixel 10 is finally strong enough for zoom lovers.
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL step things up with a 50MP wide camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48MP telephoto lens, while the front camera is a 42MP Dual PD sensor with autofocus.
The Pro models include advanced tools such as Pro controls, High-Res mode (up to 50MP), Pro Res Zoom up to 100x, and Camera Coach. The Pixel 10 instead offers Super Res Zoom up to 20x. Across the lineup, Google has included familiar features like Night Sight, Astrophotography, Macro Focus, Long Exposure, Face/Auto Unblur, Real Tone, Best Take, Frequent Faces, and Top Shot. All three phones support 4K video recording at 24, 30, or 60 FPS.
The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL feature a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 matte back with a polished finish and a spacecraft-grade aluminum frame. The Pixel 10 uses the same glass but with a satin finish, paired with the same aluminum frame. All three models come with IP68 dust and water resistance.
When it comes to colours, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is available in Moonstone, Jade, and an exclusive Porcelain finish. The Pixel 10 Pro comes in Moonstone, Jade, and Obsidian. The Pixel 10 is offered in Indigo, Frost, Lemongrass, and Obsidian.
The Pixel 10 series ships with the latest Android 16 OS and is guaranteed seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates, matching Google’s extended support promise from last year.
The Pixel 10 comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the Pro models offer 16GB RAM with the same 256GB storage. All three phones are available for pre-order in India via Flipkart starting tonight. Pricing remains unchanged from the Pixel 9 lineup. The Pixel 10 comes in at Rs 79,999, the Pixel 10 Pro at Rs 1,09,999, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL at Rs 1,24,999. Pricing remains unchanged across the lineup, but the single configuration may seem limiting for buyers, especially those who want more storage. Both Samsung and Apple offer several storage options up to 1TB.
This year’s upgrades include a faster chipset, slightly brighter displays, and modest battery improvements, alongside Google’s trademark AI features that power everything from photography to productivity. Performance is expected to see a boost with TSMC onboard, but how much of a difference these changes make in everyday use remains to be seen. If you’re considering an upgrade from the Pixel 9 series, it may be worth holding off until real-world reviews confirm whether the improvements are truly significant. If you’re on a Pixel 8 or earlier, the Pixel 10 would seem like a more worthwhile upgrade in terms of performance.
