For most users, a great smartphone isn’t just about benchmarks; it’s about how long it lasts and how smoothly it performs in real-world scenarios. Whether it’s long gaming sessions, streaming, or multitasking, consistency matters. While claims about big batteries and powerful chipsets have become quite common in today’s smartphone market, delivering both without compromise is where the real challenge lies.
With the newly launched POCO X8 Pro Series, the brand has yet again delivered performance-centric handsets that also promise to offer long-lasting battery life. In order to test these claims, 91mobiles TestLab put the POCO X8 Pro Max (top variant) through our standard tests to determine whether the handset truly holds up.
The aim of these tests was to gauge the following: real-world performance, thermals, and battery endurance. The 91mobiles TestLab data reveals how it stands out against key competitors such as the iQOO 15R, OnePlus 15R, and OPPO K13 Turbo Pro.
Segment-leading battery backed by real-world endurance
Over the past couple of years, we have seen batteries evolve from when 5000mAh was considered massive to 7000mAh being the standard now. With the POCO X8 Pro Max’s largest battery in the segment (Rs 40,000-45,000) at 9000mAh, and an 8.2mm chassis, a new segment benchmark has been set. More importantly, we found that this also translated into class-leading endurance in our testing.

In the controlled PCMark battery test performed by 91mobiles TestLab, which simulates real-world usage scenarios like browsing, video playback, and light productivity, the device delivered an impressive 21 hours 21 minutes of runtime.

This puts the POCO X8 Pro Max significantly ahead of its closest competition, which falls in the range of approximately 13 to 18 hours.
This combination of a large battery and endurance ensures that users can comfortably push through extended gaming sessions, long streaming hours, or even a full day of heavy use without constantly reaching for the charger, leaving enough charge to begin the next day.
AnTuTu and PCMark benchmark tests
While synthetic benchmarks often highlight peak performance, sustained output is what truly impacts everyday experience. The POCO X8 Pro Max delivers strong results across multiple benchmarks, with over 3M+ on AnTuTu and the highest PCMark score (17,116) in the segment, to class-leading sustained performance (84%) even after throttling. These numbers indicate that the device stays consistent under prolonged load.
For users, this translates into smoother multitasking, consistent app performance, and reduced slowdowns during heavy workloads.
Cooler gaming, longer sessions
Thermal management plays a crucial role in maintaining performance, especially during gaming.

The POCO X8 Pro Max also demonstrates clear advantages here, recording the lowest temperature rise during extended gaming sessions. Thanks to the POCO 3D IceLoop System with a 5300 mm² cooling area. Even after a rigorous 30-minute gaming session, a nominal 1.9°C increase was recorded in BGMI at the Ultra HDR graphics + Ultra frame rate setting and a 2.7°C increase in Call of Duty Mobile at the Max graphics + Max frame rate setting. The temperature rise is lower than that of competing devices in the same segment, helping not only to improve comfort during gameplay but also to maintain consistent performance over time.
Segment-leading gaming experience
Beyond thermals and standard mobile gaming, the device also delivers strong real-game performance across popular console-grade titles and benchmarks. With up to 59.5 FPS in Tomb Raider and ~40 FPS in Hitman Absolution. These numbers exceed what users expect from a smartphone gaming experience, especially in these graphically demanding titles.
Combined with stable FPS in BGMI and CODM, this ensures a smooth and immersive gaming experience across genres.
Why the claims hold in the segment
What makes the POCO X8 Pro Max stand out is not just a single strength but a balanced combination of class-leading battery capacity and endurance, strong sustained performance under load, efficient thermal management and reliable gaming output across titles. Together, these factors position it as one of the most well-rounded devices in its segment.
The 91mobiles TestLab data shows that the POCO X8 Pro Max is built to deliver real-world performance and longevity. From extended battery life to more stable performance and cooler gaming, it delivers tangible improvements users will notice in day-to-day use. If you are in the market to buy a new phone in the price bracket of Rs 40,000-Rs 45,000 and value battery life and gaming performance, this is one of the best options right now.
