Realme is expanding its budget P-series lineup and wearable portfolio with the launch of the Realme P4x and the Watch 5 in India on December 4th. The Realme P4x is expected to sit in the sub-Rs 15,000 category and will be a performance-oriented device with a large battery capacity, gamer-friendly features and day-to-day reliability. Both products, targeted at the younger audience, will be available on realme.com, Flipkart, and retail stores following their launch. Landing pages of both products are visible on the Flipkart app.
The Realme P4x is confirmed to feature a 7,000mAh battery, which seems to be becoming a benchmark across all segments. The device will support 45W fast charging, which is towards the higher end in the segment. The device packs the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra 5G chipset, which we saw in the standard Realme P4. The company claims the P4x records an AnTuTu score of over 780,000, though our internal testing revealed the Realme P4 stopped just short of that mark at 775,973 points. Nevertheless, the score is on the higher side compared to competitors, should the P4x be priced below Rs 15,000.
Gaming is clearly one of the main focus areas for Realme. The P4x supports up to 90fps gameplay in BGMI and 120fps in Free Fire. To keep things running smoothly, the phone packs in a 5300 sq mm VC Frostcore Cooling System, which Realme says can drop CPU temperatures by up to 20 degrees Celsius. The phone also includes a 144Hz display to promote smoother motion in both gaming and general use. Other expected specs include up to 18GB dynamic RAM, 256GB storage, and an “aerospace-inspired” design.
The Realme P4x is likely to appeal to users who consider battery endurance, high refresh-rate displays, and gaming performance as the biggest priorities. The 7,000mAh battery makes it suitable for heavy-duty usage, long commutes, and day-long video consumption. High fps support in popular mobile games also gives it an advantage for buyers who game frequently.
Coming to the Realme Watch 5, which is launching simultaneously with the P4x – the device comes fitted with a 1.97-inch AMOLED display with 2D flat glass, aluminum alloy crown and a uni-body metal finish. The company promises as much as 20 days of battery life in Light Mode on a single charge. The smartwatch is designed for daily fitness tracking and general health monitoring, making it an entry-level option for users seeking a bigger display and long-running endurance.
Users who want a more camera-centric device may want to wait for more information since Realme hasn’t revealed the camera hardware yet. Those who desire minimal UI elements should also look at higher price brackets since this segment has its fair share of bloatware. The Realme Watch 5 is suited for users who want a large display, long battery life, and everyday fitness tracking without moving into the more expensive smartwatch category.
