Battery capacity is one of the biggest differences between the two phones. The Redmi 17C gets a 6,000mAh battery with 33W charging, while the OnePlus N6 packs an 8,000mAh battery and 45W charging. The N6 therefore promises more endurance for users who spend a lot of time streaming, gaming or using mobile data.
The Redmi includes a 33W charger in the box, while OnePlus ships the N6 with support for 45W SuperVOOC charging. The Redmi 17C offers 10W reverse wired charging, while the OnePlus N6 also supports 5W reverse charging, which can help in an emergency when another device needs some power.
Redmi 17C vs OnePlus N6: software and other features
The Redmi 17C runs HyperOS 3, while the OnePlus N6 runs OxygenOS 16. Both offer recent Android-based software, with the choice largely coming down to the interface and features each brand adds. Both phones promise 2 OS upgrades, but the Redmi 17C will offer an additional 4 years of security patches, compared to 3 years on the OnePlus N6.
The Redmi also gets IP64 protection, a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD expansion up to 1TB, while the N6 adds IP65 protection, MIL-STD-810H certification and up to 2TB expandable storage.
Conclusion
Based on the specifications alone, the OnePlus N6 (review) is slightly superior to the Redmi 17C. It offers a larger battery, faster charging, a brighter display, slightly more capable performance and better IP protection. The Redmi 17C does have the advantage of being lighter and a bit more affordable, but the N6 justifies the higher price with clear hardware upgrades.
The 6GB + 128GB Redmi 17C costs Rs 22,999, while the same 6GB + 128GB variant of the OnePlus N6 costs Rs 26,999. That Rs 4,000 difference gets you more capable hardware on the OnePlus device in nearly every aspect, making it a better value-centric option for users shopping at this price point.
