The Redmi Note 15 Pro has launched in India as the mid-tier option in Xiaomi’s popular Note lineup, positioned between the Redmi Note 15 and the top-end Note 15 Pro+. Priced from Rs 29,999, it sits squarely in the competitive mid-range segment. Both phones bring a set of premium features at relatively more accessible prices, making them appealing to a wider audience. They are positioned as well-rounded options that aim to deliver a balanced experience and strong value for the price.
To add context, we compare the Redmi Note 15 Pro with the Realme 16 Pro, another recent mid-range launch that’s closely priced and represents a key offering for its brand. Here’s a detailed comparison of the two phones and how they stack up against each other.
Table of Contents
Redmi Note 15 Pro has an advantage here with a lower starting price of Rs 29,999 for the base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The same variant of the Redmi Note 15 Pro is available at Rs 31,999. So, you’ll get the same or more RAM and storage for less with the Redmi Note 15 Pro.
Here’s a table with their prices for better clarity:
| Variant | Redmi Note 15 Pro price | Realme 16 Pro price |
| 8+128GB | Rs 29,999 | Rs 31,999 |
| 8+256GB | Rs 31,999 | Rs 33,999 |
| 12+256GB | NA | Rs 36,999 |
The Redmi Note 15 Pro and Realme 16 Pro both stand out in their own ways. The Redmi phone has a squircle camera design with a brushed metal finish. It’s a big phone that’s a little heavy, weighing 219g, but looks quite premium overall. The phone’s highlight, though, is its durability with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance and Gorilla Victus 2 on the front. The smartphone is available in Silver Ash, Mirage Blue, and Carbon Black colours.
Up front is a 6.83-inch CrystalRes 1.5K AMOLED display (2772 x 1280 pixels) with up to 120Hz refresh rate and 3,200 nits peak brightness. It also comes with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. In comparison, the Realme 16 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display (1272 × 2772 pixels) with a 144Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 6,500 nits. While it has a brighter display and a higher refresh rate, the Realme 16 Pro doesn’t come with Dolby Vision. So, in short, the Redmi Note 15 Pro would be better for content viewing, while the Realme 16 Pro should be more comfortable to use outdoors.
The Realme 16 Pro also gets the same IP ratings, making it equally durable, and the front glass has AGC DT Star D+ protection. In terms of design, it has a unique camera design that may or may not appeal to everyone. The phone looks and feels premium overall, with three colours to choose from: Master Gold, Pebble Grey, and Orchid Purple.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Ultra, which is slightly faster than the Dimensity 7300 Max on the Realme 16 Pro. On paper, it’s around 10 percent higher CPU speeds and around 20 percent better GPU performance. This could result in a better performance overall for the Redmi Note 15 Pro if we consider the upgrades. We found the Realme 16 Pro’s performance to be smooth for regular usage like social media, messaging, multitasking, and casual gaming. The chipset is underwhelming, though, against rivals in the segment, suggesting an advantage for the Redmi Note 15 Pro.
The camera hardware on the Redmi Note 15 Pro and Realme 16 Pro is largely similar on paper. Both phones feature a 200MP primary camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and neither includes a dedicated telephoto lens. Instead, they rely on software-backed zoom features. The Redmi Note 15 Pro offers 2x and 4x optical-level zoom, while the Realme 16 Pro supports multi-focal portraits ranging from 1x to 4x. This gives users flexibility for zoom shots and portraits, albeit with some expected loss in detail at higher magnifications.
The difference shows up in the selfie cameras. The Redmi Note 15 Pro uses a 20MP front sensor, while the Realme 16 Pro steps up to a 50MP unit, giving it a potential edge for selfie quality. In our early use, the Realme 16 Pro delivers solid daylight results and notably strong low-light performance. Selfies apply some smoothing, but it looks natural, and portrait shots come out well.
We’ll have a clearer picture once we complete our full review of the Redmi Note 15 Pro’s camera performance.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro has a 6,580mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. The Realme 16 Pro offers a larger 7,000mAh battery with faster charging at 80W. This could result in a significant difference between the two phones in terms of battery life. The Realme 16 Pro lasted well over a day with moderate usage. We should still wait and see how well-optimised the Redmi Note 15 Pro is for day-to-day usage.
Redmi Note 15 Pro ships with HyperOS 2.0, based on the older Android 15. The smartphone is said to receive the latest HyperOS 3.0 soon, and it will get four OS upgrades and 6 security updates. Realme 16 Pro is better updated in this regard as it runs Realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16 out of the box. But with a 3+4 software support, the software version gets evened out on both phones.
Both HyperOS and Realme UI are custom UIs with around the same number of pre-installed apps, lots of customisation, AI features, and smooth animations. The deciding factor might come down to preference for the UI.
The Redmi Note 15 Pro and Realme 16 Pro are closely matched in what they bring to the table. Both offer similar display quality and a durable design, with the choice largely coming down to whether you prioritise better content viewing or a brighter, smoother scrolling experience. Performance appears to favour the Redmi Note 15 Pro, though both phones should be well suited as reliable daily drivers.
Cameras are something we’ll be able to judge more clearly after detailed testing, but on paper, both devices promise a feature-rich camera experience. Battery life, meanwhile, looks more dependable on the Realme 16 Pro. In the end, the decision comes down to which set of strengths aligns better with your day-to-day usage. If camera versatility and a brighter outdoor screen are paramount, opt for the Realme 16 Pro. However, if you prioritize raw performance and a slightly more refined content viewing experience, the Redmi Note 15 Pro offers better value.
