Redmi has reportedly confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 will launch in India on June 16th. The upcoming handset will be the first in the Turbo series to arrive in India. The smartphone is teased to be performance-focused. The brand has yet to officially announce the launch date, but an official image shared by tipster Sanju on X confirms it. Redmi’s product portfolio in India doesn’t include a performance-focused phone, so the upcoming Turbo 5 would fill that space.
According to the teaser image, the Redmi Turbo 5 is set to launch in India on June 16th. That’s around two weeks from now, so the official announcement shouldn’t be long. The Redmi Turbo 5 is also confirmed to go on sale via Amazon. There’s a dedicated microsite where Redmi is teasing the Turbo 5.
Since it’s speculated that the Redmi Turbo 5 will launch with the same specs as the Chinese variant, here’s what to expect.
The Redmi Turbo 5 will feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the device will be MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which should deliver flagship-grade performance. The smartphone could compete with rivals like the iQOO 15R and OnePlus 15R. One of the standout features would be the 7,560mAh battery, which is among the largest available in this segment. The battery will support 100W wired fast charging, potentially allowing users to enjoy multi-day battery life without sacrificing charging speeds.
The camera setup includes a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary sensor alongside an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Selfies and video calls will be handled by a 20MP front-facing camera. The handset will also feature a metal frame and carry IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Rumours additionally suggest that Redmi may unveil the Redmi 17 alongside the Turbo 5, although Xiaomi has yet to confirm the existence of a second device at the launch event.
The Redmi Turbo 5 looks especially promising if battery life and performance rank high on the priority list. The device appears to offer a compelling balance of endurance, display quality, and premium build features. However, buyers should wait for pricing details and real-world performance reviews before making a purchase decision, particularly as competition in the upper mid-range segment remains intense. If you currently own an older Redmi phone, this might be a significant upgrade, especially for performance and battery life.
